TBC club

Okay, I'm in. This is my AP-400M. I just bought it from ClassicJazz, and I'm really digging it.

Has anyone had any problems with intonation on any of these basses? I am having a problem keeping my neck straight. It seems that after I get it set up properly and it will play amazingly for the first 2 weeks, the neck will go out of wack again and I have to have it readjusted. Usually only on the upper frets is the problem and very much on the low side as well.

Wow, no. In fact mine has been rock solid for 6 months now, through season changes in Boston and everything.

It is strange. The intonation was out when I received it. I had it set up and about 3 weeks later, the intonation was out again. Now, I just had it set up again. I hope it lasts more than 3 weeks. It is getting a little annoying. I have not read anyone else with this complaint. I know it has been overly damp in the Wisconsin area the last 2 months, but I don't take the bass outside much and it is always in it's case.

I had a maple fretboard. Every spot where they inserted a "dot/postion marker" the wood was split from the dot to the fret, top and bottom......They happily took it back and had to refund me because it was the only lefty they had made.....they never brought in another lefty to date......it was the best sounding bass I had too...

FWIW I live up near the Illinois Wisconsin border so similar conditions probably. I own 4 TBC's now 1 I had for a few months and the others are newer but I have had no problems whatsoever. Also if you continue to have problems just call Jack, he's the owner. I have talked to him on the phone about 6 times in as many months and not only does he take all the calls personally but when you start talking to him about basses it's like talking to friend or fellow musician he loves what he does and is proud of what he makes and stands behind it. At least thats been my experience and impression.

The one downside of my AP-500M that I have noticed is that it is not as well shielded as my SR5 HH was. Since it is 1/3 the price, something had to give.;) It is a bit noisy when I'm not touching it and it's plugged in.

I noticed this too. When I pulled out my preamp, I fixed all the shielding. I had to put some paint in the tunnel between the pickup and control cavities as they weren't connected. Totally noise free now.

I bought the bass from Jack... Great to talk to. I really don't know if it is a real on going problem or if it was just a adjustment period for my bass. I can accept it if it is just these couple of times to aclimate, but if it happens again, I will have to call Jack.

Just got my JT400-JJ yesterday. The bridge is mounted in the wrong spot. The E string will not intonate. The bridge intonation screw is bottomed out and it is still out of intonation. I'll be calling today. I'm not happy!
I would like to know what happens. I am still not having any luck with getting mine to stay intonated and it is starting to be a drag. For me, no-tune=no-keep:crying:
