I have to say that while the RH450 would work with any bass, it sounds like it was made specifically to compliment a jazz bass. If you haven't checked out the TC website, you should. They have a bunch of clips of a jazz and a Stingray with various compression and overdrive levels. Each just kills.

TC Electronic RH450, RS210, RS212 Review Thread

Great advice Eublet. I have this odd tendency to jump ship and switch gear too quickly when the gas hits. My biggest buyers remorse was with a Mesa 4x10. It sounded awesome, but weighed over 100 lbs and was so wide and fat it was impossible to move around!
I think I will go ahead and get the RH 450 first, and see how I like it with the Gs 112s. I am intrigued by your comment about being heard better with less volume with the stacked 210s. That idea does appeal, because each 210 weighs as much as each GS 112, so I wouldn't be changing my hauling experiencing much. You have given me much to ponder.

LOL! You know what, Tom? I actually traded that DJ4 (that I traded to you and got back from you) AGAIN! But, I ended up getting it back AGAIN!
I have now learned my lesson, and my DJ4 is going nowhere.
haha...done that a few times myself. Not so much with gear, but with a few basses.
The vertical stacking makes a huge difference depending on how close you stand to the rig. If you're 15+ feet out in front of it, then it's not a big difference. But 10 feet or less and the difference becomes great. If you are used to a rumbly bottom, then you might not like it at all. Having a driver/tweeter at chest level goes a long way toward hearing the mids and highs.
Well, another word of caution then. The rs210 does feel more bulky to move than a single 112. It's around 10 pounds heavier than the gs112, but more than that the handles require two hands for the most part. You can carry it with one handle, but it'll hange a bit funny. The gs112 is pretty small for a 112, so it'll be pretty different. I use a small folding hand cart, which makes the dual 210's very easy to move. The rh450 bag is nice, combined with a good gig bag. I can basically carry all my stuff and have a hand free for talking on the phone or opening a door. No problem.

Too funny! I have an Amber 55-02 that I have bought back 3 times now and I recently sold it again...I will buy it back (for the 4th time!) in a heartbeat if it comes back up for sale again...I know where you are coming from, trust me!

I got my TC RH450 yesterday (no cabs, Just the head) and while I dont consider myself as a pro player I am in and have been in many working bands. Im not very good at speaking tone jargon and will probably be better at describing features and functions.
My reason for the purchase was to slim down my show rig as I have too many shows in the smaller venues to justify the bigger rig.
So after comparing my needs and wants within the products available (and in my price range) I decided to give the new RH450 a try. I was looking for a new age digital head for its light weight that could provide me with the power and features I needed. I looked into theses other heads as well like (Genz Benz, & Mark Bass)
The features that sold me on RH were the Tuner, Comp, Tube Tone, The Memory Channels and The 4 band EQ with its adjustable freq. The feature that was a little concerning to me was the 450watts of power.
My first test with the RH450 was to test out the power, while I have only had it for one day in my basement the power seems to up and beyond any other 450 I have ever played through. This thing seems to be more like a 600/700watt head so far. But show time will be the real test. And I have 3 weeks off.
I have two 4ohm cabs to play with and I have only tested it with one so far, my GB.
I recently acquired a Genz Benz Neo 212, and I have only used this cab once at a show with my current bigger rig head. The first thing I noticed about the GB cab at the show is that it seems to be more efficient as it took less power from my QSC power amp to get the same play volume then my 410 Carvin cab does. It has the obvious 212 voicing and tighter punch on the low end.
So while the cabs you use will definitely play a role in power and tone, I have only set up the RH on the Genz Benz 212 for now.
The tuner works great, I have A/B compared it to my Boss and Korg tuners and its spot on so its good enough for me.
All other features seem to work as designed, but will need more time to work with them before commenting on them.
I will say this, I was happy to see that even an adjusted center freq was stored to meme locations. VERY NICE! This is really nice for me as I play both 4 and 5 strings and it will allow me to set any EQ to include a modified center freq. for one bass and then a completely diff set of center freq. for the other.
The first description on the tone from this head would be Beefy and Warm, and it didnt take me but a minute or two to dial in a useable tone to start off with. More to come later Im sure as I am really trying out a new head and new cab at the same time. I will get this head on my 410 probably this weekend.
The quality of this head is TC, Looks and feels great. It feels like an amp should, solid and rugged enough to take on the work load. Not like a 4lb toy with plastic knobs.
Im Very happy so far.
I also got the foot switch and I am very happy they used momentary switches instead of latch type. Very smooth to use, and again seems very solid for use in my working band. But then I dont abuse my gear and feel I have a good understanding of its limitations.

The feature set is so sweet. The posts are so positive addressing sound, quality, fit, finish and power. But, I just worry about the power. My LMT800 had plenty of power but not the tone I want. My Shuttle 9.0 has clear tone and has real power. I believe the RH450 has my tone in it but it's the power thing?

Dude, it's got the power. The only people that are worried about the power are the people who haven't played it. This thing is LOUD!!! Any more power than this and you will unable to procreate.
I've already said this before to some others, but based on my ear and the way this head feels versus the other two heads I've owned below:The feature set is so sweet. 450 "RH450" watts = ~700 "LMII" watts = ~900 "Shuttle 6" watts
In other words, the RH450 seems to be rated very conservatively, and packs more wallop than other higher-rated heads.
+1...FWIW - The sticker that came in the box says "450W Performance (800W Peak) 4.5 kg/10lbs...
I am VERY impressed with this thing so far...I have a rehearsal tonight and can not wait to get it there! I have been noodling around for a little while and it is VERY loud in my house through a full range JBL MP415 Wedge that I am using as a Monitor at home now...I did not get my RS410 yet but i can only imagine that this thing is going to be smoking. I do not expect to be disappointed at all. It even sounds fabulous through this wedge right now...LOL!

I used the above example on blind faith, and with the feature set of the RH450, I choose it over the others, I just made sure I had a return policy in place just in case I needed it.
The power should be fine for me as I was running a QSC1804. Just one side (900watts @ 4) and I never really needed to run it pass 12 o'clock.
I agree, it must be a conservative rating.
Last Night I took the head to practice, put it on a GK backline 410 @ 8ohms and was running the RH450 at 12 o'clock, almost flat eq and was coming thru just fine, when I put it on my 4 ohm GB212, the GAS gets tweaked back to around 9-10 o'clock (remember this is a real quick, out of box, experience so far) but I think that if I get to the point of needing to run it up to 1 or 2 o'clock it will be just fine.
Its got the beef i need...Sold the QSC to the band for the PA.

I have to agree with Jason. I'm using mine to push a single 4ohm Acme B2 and it's doing the job remarkably. We all know how Acmes love/need power.
Was definitely impressed when I tried the RH 450 with the TC 4x10. This amp sounds ridiculously good. Not a fan of the Tube Tone. To me, it sounded pretty cheese, though good it's nothing too drastic. The head had a beautiful warmth to it that I just loved. I would love to have spent some more time with it. Also really dug the preset function!
