Oh the sensitivity is still there, it is different for every culture or nation, or ethnic group but it is still there. Major Hewitt's son, Harold's troubles with wearing a Nazi uniform at a party and his recent issues with the shortened form of "Pakistani" were not front page news becuase the UK has moved on. Even the Teenage Mutant NINJA Turtles had to be called Teenage Mutant HERO Turtles when they first came out in the UK - how many kids in the 1980s under 10 at the time remember the Japanese atrocities of WWII?

all of this back and forth about "rebel" and the 'sensitivity' and 'PC-ness' of it is reading waaaay too much into a simple copyright issue.

I always "look twice" at that too. Even when I write it myself, I stop and say "SS amps? Really?" :)

I have lived in the US South and get the "Rebel" connotation, but it is an aging and weak and very local thing, I seriously doubt it has any impact on this EU product's naming.

Well, the ad copy calls it "Rebel with a cause" referring to a James Dean film so that's probably what most Americans thought of first, or at least I would have imagined. Of course, I'm white and raised in the north east so you'd have to paint a confederate flag on it or have it endorsed by Lynard Skynard or Strom Thurman to offend my racial sensitivities.

Does anyone know if the RH450 has a cooling fan? I really like the fact that when I turn on my iAMP 800 you don't hear anything unless you are playing. I would love to have a lower powered head (I don't need anywhere close to 800w) that sounds as good but has a few extra features thrown in.

Here's some pricing for the UK potential buyers:

Head price is what I was thinking, but the cabs are pretty competitive. I paid around £400 for my MB Traveller 1x12.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before, but I didn't particularly fancy going through 13 pages of text to find out! :)

My other thought is I'd love TC to go on to do some more bass centric products. After watching the demonstration videos, I was thinking if they were to put their bass tailored 'spectracomp' compressor and their bass tailored 'tubetone' in a pedal or two, they could be on to a winner. Hell, put them both and the preamp section in a novasystem as a bass version :D

(Yes I know they make the nova stompbox series, but they aren't really bass centric)

I talked with John from Bass Emporium yesterday when I was picking up some strings. He loved the RH450 when he was at NAMM, and has some on order set to arrive next week, along with the ShuttleMax (don't know if he's getting the 6.0 or the 12.0). I'm going there as soon as he has 'em in to do some A/B comparisons. I can't wait to check these new heads out! I'll come back with a report on both as soon as I can.

Outside of this thread, I don't see anyone intimating that it's an offensive word. Just an observation.

Anyone who confuses James Dean with the Civil War is just looking for problems. The first thing I thought of when I saw the ad was a Porsche 550 Spyder. I'd love to test pilot one of those too.

I'd be happy to "settle" for a RH450 rig;). I drive my Miata to a lot of local gigs so it fits the way I work. Then again, gigging with a 550 Spyder with a hardtop wouldn't be so bad.

whats the update on these? i just watched a bunch of the videos on the TC website. very nice

the one video of the girl playing through it with her band is killer..its gotta be partially her bass (or fingers?) but that tone is to die for. so clean and full.

very markbass ish, only definately more feature packed..

Well, obviously, you can stack them either way. And in fact, if you use the TC-brand enclosures, they claim the head is safe to power three cabs (which I would stack on their sides, as in the photo above).

As to how they sounded, I didn't get a lot of time to tweak the controls, but I thought it sounded pretty good. The sound develops a bit further away from the rig than I had expected (at least when stacked end on end). The controls are set up such that you can pretty much just plug and play, if you like, or you can really dig in and fine tune things. While the sound was pretty good doing the 'plug and play thing', I am suspecting that for my personal preferences, I would get the best results after some tinkering.

A vertical stack is much easier to tip over. I'm not speaking from experience (thank goddess), but when demoing gear at a show, I would think it wiser to be safe than sorry.

Hmmm, I would think given that this was not the only 'stack' they had there, and the wider wall/post it was up against that the decision to stack it like this was due in part to the other vertical stacked rig(s) they had there AND where this amp was placed. Seeings, that it fits nicely to take up that little wall that it's in front of.

but I'm sure we can take up more thread space by discussing why it's stacked in one of two ways that they suggest on their website and other medias.
