Team Trace Elliott Pt 3

I disassembled my 1153 and I've confirmed that mine is indeed constructed from MDF- of course by the weight alone I knew this. However, I've also noticed another thing I wanted to ask the more knowledgeable Team Trace members about.

It seems that some work was done on the cabine at some point- the stuffing was weird. A piece of mattress topper and plain old pillow stuffing mixed together and just shoved in the cab not glued down.

More curious than that is the fact that the speaker is not Celestion, it's Beyma. Look at the pictures and you'll also notice that the back of the cone on the driver is stamped 2004...definitely a replacement driver, no?

Hi guys,
I am new to the group, but I currently have a Trace 1215 (linked below). I think I am about to trade for just the 7 band head and try different cab combinations. What trace cabs do you guys like? I have owned a ampeg v4b with an 8x10. It sounded great, but its too much to carry around to smaller gigs.

I am also requesting a number to become a Trace Team Member!

Traditionally one posts one's own Trace porn, but for that green explosion we'll make an exception.

I would have normally posted pics of my rig, but I am out of town with no true great pics available. I went with my next best option. A true taste of the Trace.

I will gladly portray Team Trace #222!

Don't mind me, just thinking out loud. What else could they be? I mean, only someone who, for a fraction of a second, thought that Trace would make their own basses, could have had a thought like that. Move along, fellas. My bad.

Ha ha, those are definitely Cirrus basses. I guess they just loaded them both up from the same warehouse at Peavey in Meridian, MS to take them to NAMM. Take a look at the markers on the 12th fret. That's the standard Cirrus logo.

I have an entirely unrelated question. :)

I'm looking at 'acoustic amplification' for my young aspiring harpist daughter, and I wonder if any of you heppest of all cats can tell me about the merits of Trace Elliot's acoustic line?

She'll be doing some gigs this summer, some outside at a local farmers' market, and some at indoor events. I'm not after effects, but DI/Line-Out, a pretty un-colored tone and volume are all kind of important.

Any thoughts? I've found one on my local CL, and it just looks so darned tidy and out-of-the-way, I thought I'd ask...

Thanks for your time.

I don't know if this will help or not, but do a search for Monte Mongomery on youtube, he's been a te acoustic user for years. May at least give you an idea of the tone of the amps.

yes, it's a subwoofer driver.

BAS has a Trace branded 15" Celestion replacement speaker:
Trace Elliot by Celestion 15" 500W RMS @ 8 Ohm Loudspeaker. Model #: 75-TE-BS-15500-8

Presumably this is what they use in the newer cabs. I emailed them and asked if besides the difference in power handling this would be a suitable replacement for an older 1153 sound/tuning wise...the short answer I received didn't leave me too convinced. I emailed Trace as well but haven't heard back yet.

Anyone here care to weigh in? Would there be a more suitable aftermarket replacement driver? My goal would be be for the cab to be as true to original spec as possible.

The writing faded off the back panel on my 1518 long ago but iirc it was 300W. The Trace Celestion may be a more modern version with a more modern rating or maybe it's NOS and that's what Celestion rated them at. Does it have Trace Elliot.Trace Elliot. around the dust cap?
