Well, the ultralight Vox VX50BA did another stellar job in church today! The regular soundman, another bass fan, was back and he reconnected the subwoofer properly. I didn't have to turn my bass guitar volume all the way up just to get a signal to FOH, like I did last week. So, the Vox did NOT have to carry the house. In fact, I kept turning my bass guitar down more and more, as rehearsal progressed. I suspect the soundman was turning the FOH bass up more each time I turned down!

I started with the Vox's controls all at noon, gain, bass, lo mid, hi mid, treble & volume, and left them there the whole time. No overdrive or compression engaged. My pickup selector and fingering position was sufficient for the different tones I wanted.

Hearing the FOH and my amp as well as I did, I was very acutely aware of my dynamics, needing a very soft touch for quiet passages, and really digging into the crescendos, with various feels in between. They have a great sound system when properly setup. Bass feedback has been pretty much eliminated since moving the subwoofer off the altar platform to under the communion table on the main floor.

The Vox VX50BA is doing all the good. Definitely a keeper.

That is some rig, 'Dog. Great for worship music in that it sounds as if you have a variety of tones at your disposal. I agree with M, your bass is a sweetie. Why don't they make these kinds of basses for lefties? I'm so glad the Vox is working ya too.

Fantastic post, Dog! Love what did. This was a total team effort, no doubt. I thank each and every member, old and new, for revitalizing what looked like a fading club, though a brilliant idea at its inception.

So for the next 100 pages of club postings let's continue with what's been going on these past months; having fun, writing witty banter, asking good questions, helping those out who ask for it, being the class acts we are, and spreading the gospel of the combo bass amp. That's it!

The Vox DOES have a good variety of tones for not being a modeling amp. And the carry is to die for! It's not working me, I'm working it! I'm putting it through the wringer to get the sounds I want out of it. It wants to growl bloody murder, but I calm it to dulce vibes of distant thunder until it's time for Thor to loose his hammer at the storm's climax, then back to distant thunder as the storm moves away. That's my job, man.

I can only guess that Fender didn't perceive enough demand for the lefty models of many of their basses. The TB Lefty Club needs to make more noise!

I played around with one of these at GC a while back,kinda fun with all the preset sounds.
*( and it sounded decent considering how small it was).

The 40 is louder than expected if you dime the gain on it.

Had a 100 here for a hot minute & the difference in volume was almost indistinguishable until you cranked the gain on both of them.

No, I wasn't expecting the 100 to be 2-1/2 times louder.
(it seemed more like only 30%, though)

Yeah! I've had a "touch" of the flu before. I've even had a "slight" cold a few times. Both medical terms, I'm sure. But, I wouldn't want to venture even the mildest case of death, not even once! Well, at least, not anytime soon. But, maybe, someday.

Heck Clyde, we don't care what ya eat, only if you have a combo amp that ya love playing through. An image gets ya a number and the satisfaction of knowing you're hanging with the cool kids in the forum!
