The Combo Club

Well, I'm not GDog, but according to specs, it's 50W, 75#:jawdrop:, 4x10s and requires numerous boxes of Wheaties tm consumed to move.:help:
If that’s accurate, as beautiful as it is, it’s the same weight, but less than half the watts of my Acoustic 126.

Hmmm that would be an interesting showdown. That Fender is tube powered so might be more useful volume there than expected, but not much cabinet science. Still I’d LOVE to have an old Fender tubie in my collection. I’d probably love the tone.

maggysbass, "Wow" is about the only thing I can say. Just curious, but do you play bass? :woot:

Today's the day to offer membership spots and here's yours. You've already shown us the goods (nice MB112, BTW) so if you'd like a number I have a few available to pass out. I'll bet you're the kind of person who would fit in perfectly with our bunch, especially those of us who love Rics, Jazzes, and Zoom pedals. Let me know if you're interested in benefitting from the literally thousands of perks available from being a part of the CC (Doggie, start working on that darn for me again, please?). Thank you for stopping by and please drop in as often as you can!

Hi iagtrplyr. LOL! I do play bass but don’t let the collection fool you, it’s very much a case of “all the gear, no idea”!
Used to play in a classic rock covers band, we were quite good but our day jobs got in the way!
I loved my MB800 and Super Twin rig but they were just gathering dust and taking up space so they had to go .
Loving the MB112 though, sounds fab, would love to have a good reason to pair it with a powered cab.
Thanks for the add the The Combo Club, It seems a fun place I’ll try not to let the humour (or spelling!) get lost in translation across the seas!
BTW, do I need to wear a jacket and tie to get in?

We can fix you up with combo club duds from the "lost bin" at Morrighan's laundromat and all-night silent movie theater (now with a liquor license!). Not really sure how the lost laundry bin came to be home to one leather sock. Nobody's claimed it. A little worried about actually meeting whoever left it ....

Pirate with a peg leg?

What worries me most is what sort of bass player owns leather socks .... ya know it might be worth the cover charge to listen to that band. From far, far in the back. In a corner. But I be scoping out the rig, thinking stuff like "I wonder how he got that 4x10 combo up two flights of stairs" and "did he drag it up the stairs by the handle on top?"

Guess he was lucky if he only lost one leather sock!

Well, I know this discussion on leather socks has piqued the interest of Combo Club members but, we should return to the intended purpose of the Club...or else our fearless leader may be upset with the derail.

So, after extensive research (a vivid imagination and some wine), I am happy to announce that leather socks were, in fact, a prehistoric, evolutionary step in what we now call "shoes".

Now, back to the regular schedule programming...;).

woody, this and the other images you have up are absolutely menacing! I've never seen a Markbass product look intimidating until I spied upon your MB/Mesa creation. No doubt, I'll bet it sounds terrific.
Trying to get a lot of kick in a relatively small platform! I haven’t had much time to work out the sound balance of the 2 combos, hoping to get if figgered by next weekend’s lounge gig.
I’m running the VT DI pedal in front of both combos, and all the efx through the cmd121p,and the markmesa clean. It’s pretty cool to hear efx simultaneously alongside a “straight” bass sound.
Ps i have a buddy who has one of the old Fender 410 bassmans,it’s pretty inadequate for anything involving drums or electric guitars. He tried it for bass, now just uses it for guitar.(which it sounds fabtastic with).

To all the new members our Fearless Leader has just admitted, and those invited who've not yet committed,
Welcome to The Combo Club!
Just tell 'em your member number at the check-in desk and they'll get you fixed up with your NFC fob that'll get you into all the really cool parts of the Clubhouse (hint: checkout the rooftop venue! Beatles had a good idea, just too impatient to do it right!). The fob also acts as the password to the wifi and connects your devices to the Club's website, which is continuously updated with the latest events, gear specials, daily menus, current clubhouse floor plans, and Friendly Members Contact List of those who opt in to that. Questions? Ask the fob, "Mavis, what time is my massage?"

Oh, in case you haven't driven by it already, you'll receive the clubhouse address by encrypted email from Fearless Leader. (The encryption password is your SS number divided by your Club number.)

Congrats, our newest friend, you are #111! G-dog is the club's Sergeant at Arms (our bouncer) so let's ask. 'dog, does our newest member from across the pond need a jacket and tie to enter the realm? Do ya at least have pants? We have a classy lady present, but otherwise, I'm good with whatever you normally wear.

Regardless, welcome aboard and stay as long as you like!

M, glad to hear they finally let you have your license back. What's it been, the third time now? If I've told ya once I've told ya a million times, you cannot let the Fender Rumble people in here unattended. They are crazy!
Also, I may be incorrect, but I don't think that was a leather "sock." Throw it in Doggie's Lost 'N Found box by the front door and we'll see who claims it.

Whew, I was beginning to get nervous! :wideyed:

Thanks to the man who knows it all! Love the latest pic of the place, Dog. I still marvel at what we were able to get with only $5.00 dues from each member! I must be reading too much on the Vox amp because that looks like a Nutube in the middle of our building, right below M's laundromat. Uhh, never noticed that before.

Speaking of membership roll, it's time for our latest update so we can begin harassing people for more money to pay the mortgage on our building! Ya know, the Isle of Everywhere never looked better.

So without further adieu, I present to you our Combo Club membership list. Nice to see some new names since last I posted this. invite your friends, enemies, your friend's enemies, and anyone else who loves a good bass combo as we do. Thanks for all your support!
