I appreciate the concern. The symptoms of my allergies, a cold, and omicron are the same. I've had this a week-same time frame as my annual Christmas cold-and it's basically gone.

I had one cat that knew what was coming from literally the first whistle, and as soon as it popped, completely vanished (not easy in 600 sq.ft.). The other cat couldn't be bothered, & just laid on the couch & watched YouTube videos with me

As much as I love my 25, and as much as it is the right choice for my present circumstances, I still kinda wish I had got the 50.

You can probably trade-in and up to the 50. But you need portability?? Then get 50 for home, keep 25 at church. Hmmm

Pragmatically, when I start to play at church I can use my Alpha Omega to plug into the desk, and use their 75W Line 6 to hear myself on stage. Or, if I dislike that sufficiently, I’d bet my 25 would be serviceable in that scenario, if I sit it higher, and aim it up a bit. We’re a small church. We don’t even have a drummer at the moment.

The reason I think the 25 is right for now is that I am presently a boarder in someone else’s house, so low volumes at home are a must, and I can only play with headphones on for so long. And barely at all in summer. The portability is nice for when I manage to jam with my friend, but it’s not like the 50 is too heavy.

Actually, that’s one comparison I didn’t do. Which one is quieter? Who would think of asking that question of bass amps!? Not me!

I expect that in the future, when I am vaguely approaching competency, I’ll get myself a bigger combo. Will I get the 50? I do LOVE the Orange sound. Maybe a Warwick BC80? Those dual simultaneous inputs could be handy. Most likely by the time I reach that point I’ll be trying to decide between a hundred options.

So here is something else to think about for the B-15s - often times, in an orginal pair the serial number of the cab and head (wait for it)..... MATCH! They are indeed one unit, and not sold separately.

D'oh! No sooner does a new FL step up, but we are confronted with our old nemesis again: is a B-15 a combo??

Hm. Seems like Gstaats has put in an interesting counter argument. My question has always been, "how easy is it to separate the B-15 amp from the cabinet?"

To me, if it comes apart with no tools, and could then be shipped apart, then it's not a combo. But I'm just one voice among many, and I don't have a dog in this fight.

I love this little Phil Jones, though. It also serves double duty as my synth rig's sound system when jamming on synth hardware (via the aux input).

That pair of 4" speakers with 70W behind them manages to vibrate the walls anyway XD

Yep, love my D4 - it handles everything I throw at it, from fretless shortscale to full scale 8 strings with a clear and even tone!

Plus, battery pack so I can play out on the deck if I feel like it!

Next logical step up would be the Rumble 40 or Orange 50. Rumble has XLR out. Crush Bass 50 has FX loop to XLR out through your Darkgkass…

oh- I checked out that pedal. SWEET!!!!!

I’ve got a cheep Dapper Bass - some FX, lots of output options, compressor, and a built in tuner that mutes signal when engaged. Fun!!
Very serviceable preamp section worth price of admission.

And quiet- erroneously reported hum- but that was a bass left on at volume…slowly began low feedback. Take note @iagtrplyr - you can put this bauble back in your cart

I have a battery bank, too (well, I have two...) Being powered by an external power brick was definitely a "nice to have" for sure.

I've read through this thread and an varying opinions over time. Do B-15s count as a combo? (I do wheel mine and carry it with the head folded in)... I have a b-15r and also have one of the super rare ampeg b-15e extension cabs (only 97 were made) View attachment 4524182 View attachment 4524182

Either this or the SVR-212 qualifies you. Are you wanting a membership number?

New FL went on record officially the millisecond 2022 started (CST) that existing decree stands. He would rather not reverse that without a darned good reason - never mind the inconvenience regarding existing members inducted on the basis of their B-15s.

New FL also hadn't realized @gstaats might be asking to join. That has been rectified.[1]

That Dapper Bass looks pretty versatile.
I have to admit that it does feel a bit absurd buying a pedal almost as expensive as my bass and combo together, but goodness it sounds fantastic. I’m having so much fun with it now, and it’ll still be useful to me well into the future.

Now I really look forward to everyone going out so I can turn the volume up and hear it all properly.
