The high today is supposed to be 44 F. Last weekend, the high was 10 F. Methinks 73 is not so chilly. I’m a tad jealous…

Bah, it is another -40c day here. We have had a deep freeze for at 3 weeks now.

We use one of those Line 6s at church. I haven't used it yet myself, but my friend who got it back in the day reckons they're much better than their reputation, and are pretty good value.

Never noticed one used with bass. Most of the time I heard them with guitars, I was underwhelmed. Maybe it was the digital effects. Those always sounded very digital. Ugh.

You can tell -40 is cold, because it’s the same temperature on both Celsius and Fahrenheit scales.

Up here in Ocala, we just made it to 70° F. at 2 pm. Tomorrow night (gigging time) is supposed to be 64°. BRRR!

I think it helps that we don’t use the effects on it. At all. These days it usually gets used on the keyboard, as we don’t often have bass anymore.

As long as I live, I will always have a true bass. Keyboards or anything else do not cut it in my music.

I spent over a year off and on at a job site in Brooksville, FL. The humidity in the summer was unbearable, to say the least. But I still love Florida, though.

Non-Floridians don't understand that 64 is pretty cool here. That same humidity in the summer is still here this time of year. It soaks into you, which is why a waterproof windbreaker works better than a heavy sweater.

We always have at least one sudden dip down to around 70F near the end of summer (which can be anywhere from early September through November) with 90F - 100F days (some years 110 or more) is always entertaining, because suddenly 25-35% of the population dons serious coats, jeans, and boots - even UGGS. You might see a woman dressed like that (plus scarf and cap) walking with a friend in hot pants and a halter top.

Meanwhile in the Alaskan boonies, my SIL goes outside in a tee shirt on an 18F winter day because it's 30 or more degrees warmer than the past couple of weeks.

It's all what your body acclimates to.

Anyway, I get it. Have you looked to see if you can find someone to come play? I helped out at a small church (in addition to being in our church's rotation) before the pandemic hit.

That doesn't seem to happen much around here. Every now and then someone will come and help out, but it's not a normal thing. Not that I have a good handle on the wider Christian scene in Adelaide, I had fairly... insular upbringing.

Anyway, my goal is to get good enough to play bass when I'm not on sound. That should help.
