I took it as ‘ And, how does it sound?, How do you like it?, tones, etc…’

Rehearsal today so tried it at more volume,although in a house so not full gig volume. Gain at 11 o'clock, master at about 9 o'clock. Tones flat and filters off, although I experimented with them briefly.

Not completely bowled over with the tone. It seems more burly and muddy than I'm used to with the Eden Nemesis I've been playing for 17 years. I was using jazz with flats, which sounds so good at gig volumes with the old amp but hard to tell in this situation.

I really need to try it at a gig....

I'm really enjoying this Peavey Max 208. It sounds amazing. It's got a 3 ba d eq and overdrive circuit. Each eq knob has a corresponding button that shifts the eq band. I needed a straight amp with a small foot print.

Steadily enjoying my PJB Pro Cub combo with it's C2 ext cab... Portable, lightweight but sturdily built, and great sound! ~And I just picked up one of those XVive wireless sound systems to add to it. -And quickly discovered what a joy t'is to be able to freely move around and play anywhere in the house w/o a limiting cable making me stay close to my amp!! -I also think it's easier on my gear, and safer, w/o having a cable tugging at either bass or amp...!
If your bass is passive all you do is plug one little 2" dojigger transmitter into your bass and another little dojigger receiver into your amp and you're good to go! And it easily recharges via a USB cable, which makes it good for 5 or 6 hours. -Couldn't be much easier IMO...

4 string only. I want to get a 5 added to the collection. The problem is there's no brick and morter stoors that carry decent gear and I'm leary of buying before trying. I just took a ride to my local GC store all the bases had 1/2 inch high action at the 12th fret once tuned. What a sin. You can't even play motown finger style. It was a complete waste of a trip.

When I got my MIM7ender fretless at GC, I got to try it because the sales gal agreed the action in the Squire was way too high. But…the tech was free so she took it back to him. He did a quick action setup and it was waaaay better. Seems it had likely never really been ‘set up’. By then I was able to go back and forth and opted for the fretless. But that Charlotte NC store was really responsive even though they had a lot of folks in the store browsing.

GCs seem to be hit and miss. The ones here have generally been good about setups in my experience. But I hear from some who have horrid experiences where they live.

Zzsounds are good. I'm surprised you had that experience with Sweetwater. Never had a problem returning equipment. I just ordered a Schecter for my kid for Christmas. It was initially back ordered. I got it in a few weeks but it had a lot of issues. I sent it back. Frets were popping. They determined it was likely made out of green wood and refunded me. I'm shocked it was sent from the factory like that.

Same good experiences with Sweetwater... They took back and replaced a new Ampeg 112 cab that buzzed.. And also honored their own inhouse 2 year warranty for an Ampeg PF350 head that failed some 15 months in, and refunded my credit card for the full amount. I've also gotten several basses from them, all set up well, all delivered quickly...
There was the one time however when they sent me a new CV Mustang bass that weighed almost 2lbs over what they advertised on their site. ~But after me angrily complaining several times (publicly also) we settled the issue by me accepting a partial refund of $100.
So overall, Sweetwater's perhaps not perfect, but IME their warranty and service is at least as good (and usually a helluva lot better?) than some other music gear shops I've dealt with! ~I'd definitely use them again, and indeed just did so for a wireless system...

Just an update on the Peavey Max. I wound up returning it. Last gig I played was in a pretty loud rectangular room. So loud that it effected stage volume. I had to run the amp on 8 just to hear myself in the back line enough to get through the set. It's rated 200 watts peak 120 wats rms. Should have been loud enough for most large stages. My concern is I don't want to run my amp balls out constantly. Too much wear and tear over time. It sounded great though.

So I decided to return it and get a Hartke KB12 for more head room. I have tried these in the past and found them on their own to be too clean but I'm running a pre amp so that should not be an issue. This is rated 500 watts peak. Should be 325-350 watts rms at 28lbs. This should give me the head room in worst case scenarios.

I don't think so... It only has DI and headphone O/Ps, no port for an ext cab?

The last 6 months I have been using the GK Plex so I don't like to use a modeling amp. On its own the Fender sounds great. I want the option of slanting the cab without needing to carry a stand.

Tonight we're playing a local brewery and I'm running sound. So no amp needed. GK plex into my mixer. In ears for monitors all around. My drummer is bringing an electric kit. So 2 x 15 and an 18 inch sub for FOH. I'll run all my mics and drums through the mixer to logic. Il pick up CLA drums and a mix bus. We will sound huge at lower volume and won't chase anyone out.

Hopefully the kickback will suit my needs for the medium to large rooms and outdoor stages.

That would be a deal breaker for me, over the course of about six weeks with this new band I went from (band provided) Fender Rumble200 working great at first rehearsal to being concerned about damaging it at second rehearsal when it was dime'd and making weird noises... Then to Fender Super Twin with two JBL 15's fine at third rehearsal to concern for JBL'S throwing their cones thru the grill cloth at fourth rehearsal..., So, then, at fifth rehearsal a pair of Peavey heads, one driving a pair of JBL 15's, and the other a pair of JBL 18's, one head fried towards end of that rehearsal!

That led me to say "screw it" and at sixth rehearsal I deployed the "Nuclear Option," robbed my pa rack and showed up with it's 3000 Watt Peavey Amp, preamp, and pedals.

So what combo might work in this situation? I am currently sending 950 Watts to two JBL 18's, aboutish 350 Watts to two JBL 15's, and the band seems to have backed off turning up the volume, for now.

Should I just build a custom cab for one 18" JBL along with incorporating the rack, and build into it a forklift while I am at it?

That is really cool! You-all have a great "working together" plan.

This new group I am in has two guitarist's that have never played in groups before, probably why they just keep turning up. Have been going along with it since this is all happening in a dedicated rehearsal space, provided by them. Will this work in a for profit small venue bar/business? No, it will not : )
