For me, my recent purchase which has capabilities way over my skill level at the current time, I wanted (as I usually do with other things) to buy once, that way I get to enjoy a high quality piece of equipment and have the flexibility to expand to something a touring pro would use without having to sell it. My Rumble 100 was a dead end. My GK Fusion combo is not.

My first experience with crank start was in [I think] seventh grade. I was taking clarinet lessons after school and the teacher drove a Sunbeam roadster. When he told us that it had both a self starter and a crank we begged him to show us how the crank start worked. Sixty-some years later I volunteer at a museum with many old cars that have crank starting. Who’d’ve thought that clarinet lessons would pay off in the future?

Any news in Comboland? How is everyone? Other than our heat pump not working (we have space heaters running and repair should happen today), we’re having a good holiday weekend.
From Comboland, my stepson is still enjoying his birthday Positive Grid Spark for both guitar and bass! And I still can't get over how full and deep those 2 little 4" speakers sound!! The power of the bass reflex cabinet at work.
It was another great Thanksgiving meal for a small group of 9 this year. Mrs. Dog was very well prepared and had no anxiety over anything, as she had in her younger days. Turned off the cenral heat and used the fireplace for a few hours. Of course, the food was delicious and there was way too much of it! She made everyone take home leftovers and we still have enough for a couple days. Called and texted family and friends all over the country.
A grandson & I got Christmas decorations out of the attic yesterday. Mrs. Dog & daughter are putting some around the fireplace right now. No one we know ventured out to the Black Friday crusades. We may visit a small local store today, ... or not. We'll see.

A rare(these days)weekend:2 gigs in 2 days. Fairly small room last night, used the Rumble 100; large room tonight, gonna use the R200c. Load in/out so much easier with the light weight combos.

A lot to be said for the humble Rumble, as I learned on a friend's R40.
Thanksgiving is way easier for all concerned with a restaurant buffet. This is what a friend and I did Thursday. Her husband's out of town, I have nothing to do, and we're off. No cooking, no cleaning, we have wine, and all is well.

The "humble" R40 is usually my amp of choice for the Community concert band. I'm taking the place of an upright bass, so a lotta volume isn't necessary-or wanted. Usually use the Ibanez AGB200 semi-hollow w/ tapes as it gets a very UB-y sound.

I gots enuff trouble hitting the right note with frets. I don't think my switching between long and short scale basses would help AFA attempting fretless.There's a student in class who uses a fretless Mouse, and gets a very UB-y sound

Speaking of humble Rumble combos, I surprised my son with more details about my humble Invalid Link Removed combo bass modeling amp yesterday. As a Marshall full stack & pedals guitarist, he had always looked down on combos and modeling amps. But, I had played the Studio for him a few times, demonstrating the various preset voices, on a few previous visits while he condescendingly feigned interest. But that was before he got so interested in playing bass himself the last couple years.
Well, yesterday he was all agog about the recently introduced Fender Tone Master Pro guitar modeling ultra-pedal, and how you can actually tweak knob settings on the touchscreen! I told him, yes, that's cool. I've been doing that on the Invalid Link Removed on my 10" tablet controlling my Rumble Studio 40 via Bluetooth for a few years now! And he's all, "Wait! What?!? ... You can do that with that little combo???" And I'm like, "Yeah, didn't I show you that?" Apparently I hadn't. So, now he is once again in awe of his old man! (It's not the first time.) And I give thanks for that, too.

A good friend of mine owns one and never takes her actual AUB out any more. The Mouse gets one or three flavors of URB vibe pretty well, indeed, but I kind of miss the other 100 sometimes.
