The Combo Club

He

I’ve got an Ampeg BA110. How about you? And the new Jag is wonderful! I love it. It sounds fantastic through the Ampeg combo, much better than my Jazz which had a lot of electrical noise (can’t think of the term right now but you know what I mean m).

I bet the Jag sounds great through that Peg. I actually like my Jag more than my Mustang, but don't tell anyone.

I have a Rumble 200 Combo (and a 25 Combo for the RV).

Enjoy the Club...it's a great place with great people :thumbsup:.

Happy 4th of July to all you in the USA! Happy July 4th to the rest of the world as well. I have updated our membership list on P. 31, and with the addition of our newest, Shadven, we're now only 13 new members to that magical century mark. Will reaching that goal transform us into something different? The answer is no, or at least I don't hope so. I like this club just the way it is, and so does Nancy1234 who was quoted as saying, "
I think I’m going to like this club! Thanks :)" So please keep up the great conversation, ask a question (there are no dumb ones), and seek us out a few more of our bass buddies to keep us going strong.

Thanks so much and have a great 4th of July!

Hope all you USA guys had a great July 4th holiday.
We have Christmas in July coming up, which for us in Australia is mid winter, so it equals the cold conditions of December Christmas for the US, UK, Europe etc.
For you guys in the US and UK, Europe etc. in July your temps are like what we normally have to put up with in our December Christmases..heat, heat, and more heat..so you have some idea I suppose what our normal Christmas in Oz is when we swelter over Christmas dinner with the air conditioning belting away, while you guys are trying your hardest to keep warm.
I haven't got a Christmas In July gig this year so having a quiet July with my wife and Rumbles..lol
I hope you Combo Club guys on the other side of the world manage to grab some Christmas In July gigs as they are usually a fun time here in Aust, so I presume they are much the same there with Santa, Christmas trees, decorations etc. at the gigs? Just wondering if you hold it the same as us.

Only "Christmas in July" I'm aware of in the States is store sales hype, no celebrations.

Our 4th of July celebrations are a big enough blowout to last until Labor Day, the first Monday in September.

August is spent getting the kids back to school.

In S. FL, all the snowbirds/celebrators are up north-nothing here except heat and T'Storms(and skeeters):help:

Speaking of kids, I'm going to be alone with my 2 year old for a few days as mom went on a weekend vacation. She's earned it. He's the reason I actually started playing bass again. He exhibited an interest in music so I decided to indulge again in buying and surrounding him with musical instruments. This meant bass, as that is what I knew/know.

Looks to me like he can probably play it already...just cant pronounce it loll

Wow..takes you that long to get the ankle biters (little dickens, tadpoles etc etc) back to school..then a real holiday..lol

You have no idea, our Australian friend. On Meet the Teacher Night, a day or two before the start of school. worn out parents bring their child (plus book bag, Kleenex, germ wipes, pencils, pens, etc) to the room and begin the celebrating process as soon as they see me standing there. Like your Christmas in July, it's a special time of year for all, especially after mom and Dad spoiled the little nippers since June and leave me to take the ball and run with it. Hey, this post should go into GOF!

That's what a responsible parent does with their child over the summer! He's getting to learn a new language and show off the creative side of their being. Beats sitting in front of the tube all day. Nice job, Doc!
Unfortunately he does get his fair share of the TV, but I encourage him to play bass as much as possible. In fact, I call one of my basses his bass. It was the one in the picture but I sold that and now he gets to fiddle around with my Hofner Ignition. The Ignition is kept in the family room w'ith a small Kustom practice amp just in case father and son want to noodle a bit.

Wanted to run this by the room.
Is this a ‘combo amp’ by current definition?
Certainly odd, out of the box AND very typical of my never-ending experimentation.
Xvive wireless > Xtomp (amp model selected)>600 watt EV elx112p, with a side of korg jack tuner.
Does it all with VERY little stuff.

Man! That Justice League Utility Pouch holds a lot of gadgets!

But, if the EV has no EQ of its own, then I wouldn't call it a combo; unlike the rig you had with the Rumble.

Doggie, you beat me to the Batman reference...darn you. Boy, I dunno. We've been pretty liberal with our definition of the word "combo," but I think I can see what G-Dog is saying. It seems like there are those in favor of the powered speaker, but the fact you want to run an app in between for tone would make me think it's not a combo either. I know you don't have to, but then you're at the mercy of the speaker's preamp, which is usually pretty limited (hence, G-dog's point about EQ). Of course, I could be wrong too. Anyone else want to add two pennies?

It gets used primarily to hold 2 sets of Xvive wireless fobs and chargers so I can drop the whole shebang into the large gigbag pocket. Works great. I can see why a busy superhero would like it.

It was actually part of a little complementary airline traveler kit. Given to me by a dear elder friend who’s like another Mom to my wife and I.
It has gotten more attention here than anywhere else haha.
