I am happy to report my P Bass sounded great at low volume when plugged in the Traynor YGM-3. Then, I connected my Rumble v3 2X10" cabinet, turned it up to half volume. Wow!!! Beautiful, warm tube goodness!! It probably won't be loud enough to gig with but it'll make a great recording rig.

I'm employed today primarily due to may ability to teach applied ethics. I've taught a variety of such courses and I am on the advisory committee for our health-care region. So I help health-care professionals with their decisions via a multi-disciplinary committee headed by a professional ethicist. It's nice to contribute in that way. Great on you for doing it too!

He owns an awesome bass and only needs to pair it up with a Phil Jones combo to make it perfect, though his GK combo is certainly no slouch. Play nice, please.


That is true, sir. My goal was seven amps and/or combinations that would give me a new direction each day of the week. I’m not proud of it, but that was truly my goal!

Thr cool thing is now that I’ve been “forced” to learn the recording process, it tends to sound better going to the software really clean. All of my amps with a simple line out should work sandy. I think one of the VOX amps is next or possibly the PJB.

Aww, thanks for coming to my defense! It's nice to know that even after the shenanigans at the club house party that I've not worn out my welcome. Someone was supposed to have deleted the footage, but seems to be holding it over on me now...

I actually own a small jumble of basses. They range from "costs less than the gig-bag it's in" to "costs more than my car is worth." Thankfully, most are in the low end of that range. And if the GAS tank fills up again, I'll probably nab up a PBJ combo. I'll be sure to post it hear right away. (see what I did there?)

Hey just to throw it out there I got a mic cable, went from my line out to the mic in on my Focusrite and my tone is exactly as I have dialed up on my amp...pedals and all. Freaking awesome like my combo even more now

Glad to hear that. It’s a new area for me as well, and while I’ve done more messing around with my interface then actually playing bass, I think it has been worth it. Now it’s off to mixing so I can create something to send to my buddy, Soul Reflection. He enjoys the assault in his ears.

I’m using the Presonus Audiobox USB 96, the Studio One 4 Prime software, HP Windows 10 laptop, and a pair of JVC headphones. Oh yeah, a measly amount of talent on loan from God.

I’m just using a Focusrite which I believe is one of the cheaper models because it just has one instrument in and one mic in. I am also using pro tools first with a windows computer. I messed with pro tools first a fair amount and audacity as well, but I just find it easier for me to edit in pro tools. My problem is I always thought my bass sounded better when I dialed in on an amp Vs my bass direct in. Since I can send my amp tone now it saves me having to buy an expensive mic or playing with too much stuff in the PC chasing tone.

But absolutely I love the help and I also love helping, so I appreciate the sentiment

In the acceptance of the necessity of recording given The Thing That's Going Around, picked up a PreSonus Audiobox USB 96. And it holds a place on the top of my computer to my right. It's not hooked up at this moment because it's powered when it's plugged in. While it's clear a clean recording of my bass is a positive asset when you're trying to reach others, I've yet to make the effort of said recording.

What I've been doing is recording technical executions I've been practicing with my smrtphne. That in itself has been instructive as I work to prepare a reasonably clean pass. Kind of given up on "perfect".

What I believe I can do is use the DAW as my audio interface and use the computer's camera to record the video. It's not all fancy and such ... it may work when I have a presentable piece. IMO.

In other non-news, the BA108v2 Plus is angled right behind me, pointed at mah haid. Sure sees a lot of use, considering what else is available. Got enough amplification here for any indoor gig I can see, and possibly many outdoor gigs. And same as [most of] you, sitting at home, bored. Lots of practice on the practice amp!

Thanks, 112! I think there’s more of us amateurs than we probably know attempting such feats (see below).

Our setups are very similar and I believe our goals are the same too. I’m running through my pedal board before either going straight to the interface or via my amp. I’ve become a compression nut of late and use it as an always-on.

I understand Pro Tools is fairly robust, similar to Presonus’ Professional software. I just want to know how much time one person would need to spend to be able to operate every function offered! It’s mind-numbing.
