I did purchase another combo this week. No big announcement, since it is just another Vox Pathfinder. I love using them as preamps and the one I have has the speakers removed and a speaker out added. With the addition of the new Pathfinder I'll be able to run two cabs and my VX50BA at the same time. So it will be three amps and 2 x 15, 2 x 10 and 1 x 8 speakers. I'll post pics when it's all put together.

I didn’t want to let your thoughts go unanswered. I don’t know how recording this club does, but I’ve been tinkering the past week or two, but am an absolute newbie at recording. I’m gonna give you my two cents though.

Rob, you should be able to run out of your Line Out directly to your Focusrite’s input and hear yourself out your phone’s or speakers after you’ve created a track.

Now the interesting part. I have a DI on my Terror Bass amp and when I run the cable to my Presonus Studiobox 96 USB. I can’t get any volume through my phones though. But I’m gonna try again with one of my combos with a 1/4” output and see what happens.

Gilead, yes, if you run your output post-EQ you’ll have the influence of your preamp tone controls. On the other hand, if you run pre-EQ (push of a button if you have that on your MB), then it bypasses your tone controls and your signal goes cleanly through to the ouput. I say try both and decide which one you think works better for your application.

That’s if you can fit your entire rig in the frame! So you’re using the Pathfinder as a preamp, sending the VX50’s signal out? If I’m wrong then a demand a schematic to figure out how your mind sees it. Think of it as an example of Existentialistic thought; one man’s view of his how his bass rig faces gigging environments.

Ojay, I’m done philosophizing for one night. :laugh:

The whole rig would actually include 4 Vox amps at full capacity, but one would act only as a preamp. I've tried some preamp pedals to replace the Pathfinder, but none have been as good.

Anyway, there are two ways I could make it work. One way would be to use my Microsynth pedal as a Y pedal and run one output to the VX50BA and the other to the Pathfinder/MV50CL. The latter would then line out to the big Traynor cab and the former would line out to a second Pathfinder connected to a 1x15 cab. The other way would be to single line out to the VX50BA -----> Pathfinder/MV50CL -----> Pathfinder.

There would likely never ever be a need for such a set up, but I also own 5 basses and yet I can only play one at a time. It is a bit of combo madness me thinks...or pandemic madness ... or GAS ... or a COMBO of all the former ... (see what I did there).

My buddy just sent me that clip recently. Funny movie. It was one of the first movies my friends and I ever rented when VCRs first came out. We kept rewinding and playing the scene where the Roman yells 'move that miserable piece of $hit'. He was referring to a horse. We laughed so hard and almost wore out the tape.

Thanks for the warm welcome! Yeah I do love the B100R. It’s definitely worth the effort to lug around, lol :)

Now swink, watch your tone. I like Dub-RR just the way he is, so don’t be throwing any psycho-babble-what-does-this-image-look-like stuff at him.

He owns an awesome bass and only needs to pair it up with a Phil Jones combo to make it perfect, though his GK combo is certainly no slouch. Play nice, please.

That is true, sir. My goal was seven amps and/or combinations that would give me a new direction each day of the week. I’m not proud of it, but that was truly my goal! ;)

Thr cool thing is now that I’ve been “forced” to learn the recording process, it tends to sound better going to the software really clean. All of my amps with a simple line out should work sandy. I think one of the VOX amps is next or possibly the PJB.

Thank you, my trusted ally from the north. I asked and you delivered. While I agree with your assessment that this may be more hypothetical than practical, ya have to admit it might be fun to fire this mega-rig and see what she does.

From this point on though, Doc, you are to be deemed the club’s true mad scientist. I’m just a wannabe compared to you!

Recently, the company I do engineering work for formed an Integrity team and the GM asked if I would be interested in joining. I said yea, and have been working diligently for about a year to nudge the company ethics in a direction our little team agrees with. It has been a real learning experience of trying to manage several different expectations and make ethical improvements while a pandemic hampers our industry.

So my area is more applied ethics than philosophical ethics. But my friend and I sometimes talk philosophy, and I enjoy the thought exercises he presents me.

I know, my banter on TB is strictly sophomoric, but I can be a real grown-up when I try.
