But going from FX Send to the Input of the 2nd Rumble amps doesn't 'enslave' them! The Volume & EQ controls of the 2nd, (and 3rd, and 4th, ...) amp are still active and need to be adjusted separately! For wet/dry applications, and others, that is what you want. Otherwise, it may be a little annoying to make sure the 2nd, and other, amps are EQ'd flat and Volume set where needed.

That answers the question I had a couple of days ago concerning hooking up two combos but allowing each preamp to be used. Thanks, 007!

I tried the KB12 and seriously did not like it. Sounded nothing like what Jack Bruces Harkes did and that I loved. And it distorted at about 1-2 o'clock. I much prefer my R100 although I desire a R200. I had the R500 and it was amazing. Way, way more tone and volume than the KB12. If it's to be used for gigging out I'd 100% go with either the R200 or R500 if more volume is needled.

Thanks. The Hartke combo is actually about to be distributed by our big music chain in Canada Long & McQuade. I only know this as I happened to be at one of their stores and a company rep was demoing it for the staff. That's how I heard it and everyone there - staff included - was super impressed. Especially at the price point. Unfortunately they wouldn't let me try it - but I suppose I will be able to soon.

If anyone on this forum lives close to Elyria, maybe they can help facilitate the sale and transport?

I would, but at 3.5 hours drive one way, I'm probably not the closest.

Really want to see this outside the old garage door next spring!

I did a little research. They are very much in demand and if one comes on the market it doesn't take long before they disappear again.
I see three options:
1. Raise $6000 and order one.
2. buy a 4 string, try to get a neck and a bridge, and frankenstein one together.
3. Be patient and jump on it when one comes on the market.

If I come across one I will let you know.

Thank you for your support. I figured you had lightning in a bottle with finding a long-sought Kasino today, so I took a chance it could happen again.

Of the options, I can report on my investigations:
1. Actually, the sale price is considerably less, only about $4600 for a new one in my specs. Bad parts: a) still about $2500 steep for what I can do; b) waiting list is something like 2 years or more, with half-down and good luck getting any money back if something happens to Joe.
2. I asked about that. The necks are carbon fiber, and the 8 string necks are reinforced for the extra string pull. In all, it would take about the same time and money as just ordering a new Sonus 8.
3. I've been doing that for the last 4 years or so. Tried to make a deal on 2 over that time. One guy would not come to a price I could reach (and seemed insulted at my offers), the other guy decided that he loves the bass and will not sell it for any price. I've tried to get the second one to let me at least try playing it (he's not too far away) but he seems uninterested in helping.

I really appreciate any help I can get in this.

I played the Hartke KB15 when I was shopping around and got my Ampeg.
I would have gotten it if they’d have given me a better value on my trade ins.
It’s a very clean sound though.
It’s very different from the Ampeg and even the Rumble. I would consider the Rumble line clean, but with more of a vintage tone.
The Hartke KB15 was very much “This is what your bass sounds like.”
And more...modern?
But quality IMHO.
As you can tell though, I’m not overly picky.

Good evening all. Ya know what I’d like in the used dept, if one was was in my are, in great shape, and not overpriced? An Ampeg B-100R combo. Thought I’d by many to be their finest sounding combo, I think with its decent power output and single large driver, it’d be the perfect studio amp.

The negatives are it’s weight, age (who wants an over 20-yr old combo short of mint?), it currently fetches a pretty high resale price, plus do I really need another amp? At the same time, if one fell my way I’d grab it and giggle like a proverbial school girl.

So here’s your weekend homework, if interested. Come up with one used item you’d give your left (insert your own noun here) for and why. Good luck and have some fun!
