This is my third journey through the MTftBP cohort. Toward the conclusion of the 2020 cohort, the head coach suggested I consider volunteering as a coach for the winter 2021 cohort. I'm both a participant and a coach for this one, and we're just under the halfway point. And agreed to volunteer again as a coach for the summer 2021 cohort, which begins in a couple weeks.
I've no clue where this is all leading but it's a lot of fun. (We coaches have coaches, too!) ... and yes I made my uploads public this year. That's what I think of mine.
So, long story short, it is proprietary...in other words, no problem. Either way, it doesn't matter to me
I don't have a clue what any of you people are talking about, but I'm too smart to let everyone that so I don't look like some sort of a goof, ya know?
I second G'Dog, M, nicely done! Can we still call you by your first name, or is coach the preferred title? Will you still hang out with us serfs now that you're coaching people to do your bidding? BTW, what exactly are you coaching people to do? I'm curious as well as others who may be too.

Over at the cohort everyone knows me by my first name (Morrighan is my middle name). Every student has a coach, which is part of the deal in joining the Cohort with Accountability. The "accountability" part is where coaches come in. We all agree to playing by the rules of the game. That means working with the Music Theory for the Bass Player book in tandem with the videos. We have a week to review the material and post a written commit to submit a video or videos of ourselves performing material we pick.
All coaches completed MTftBP at least once. The record is seven, I'm told. As for what I do ... well coach is the correct noun. Watch the students' videos with a compassionate eye as one who's Been There. We've got lifelong pros working as hard as rank beginners. On video. It can feel like great vulnerability to have every nuance seen by your cohort. And to think that's the point is to miss the point entirely
All coaches join monthly Zoom rooms for cohort members, lead by either Ari, or our head coach, Fred.It feels like a very big deal to complete 40 weeks of an intensive online course. What's amazing is how many cross the finish line in a world where the prevailing wisdom is 10 weeks of online study is the limit of a student's concentration. With MTftBP, 10 weeks isn't even getting started.
And as our home audience at Combo Club knows, I record all my homework — yes I honour my agreements the same as all — from the DI of my PJB BG-400 combo to a DAW to Win10 on a not-so-new-anymore desktop. Started like most everyone else with my smrtphn balanced on something as I try to break my record for clean takes
Right now, I take a warm-up after the sound and video is checked. Then save the first clean take, errors and all. Because these "errors" are mostly inside my head ... with an entire collection of videos I've made over these last couple or three years, it's very easy for me to track my own growth.
Cat bass got its first moment on camera two weeks ago. My current avatar is a screenshot from the most recent MTftBP video
Next video is due Friday, and I'm always on time What I'm working to take in is, the gig I was looking for didn't take the form I imagined!

Professor, I think you’ve found your calling now that you’ve totally dismissed the bullfighter gig from last year. You found something fulfilling to do and gave painstakingly worked at it these past months.
Congrats, and May you inspire more players to love the bass as you obviously do! I’m so impressed by you I’m giving you the night off at the laundromat to celebrate. Just make sure you’re in extra early tomorrow. Thanks.

It's news here at the CC, and at TB in general, because I barely said a word about accepting the invitation last year to participate as a coach.
This is the context for why I say a PJB Double Four combo is entirely sufficient for my work-at-hand. As things open more and more (as we trust it shall), there's plenty of combo firepower for any gig I may wish to take. A regular gig or three is fine by me, and means a great deal more work on top of work. Way upthread I told the rockin' fusion cats (in their 50s, one a Berklee grad) I'm booked for time through October. That's the conclusion of the winter cohort. And I'm coaching the summer cohort that begins in a couple weeks.

Oh those fusion cats are doing Jean-Luc Ponty sets, and this is very tasty to me. Means a lot of actual playing. What they want is someone who really knows their way around the bass. We'll see ... I've other ideas ...

Here is exactly why the Ampeg BA108v2+ combo gets a daily workout! It's a practice amp! And it works!
Thanks to the CC, it's finally dawned on me that my gig is exactly where I am, working the Music Theory for the Bass Player (volunteer) day job. What it feels like to me is a deepening where theory meets the fretboard. I had this same feeling the first time I actually understood the circle of fifths back at Musicians Institute. A year there feels too little ... and the bass went under the bed as I had a life to see to.
Here in lockdown with the rest of you, I "perform" and the dog and for the cohort. Need to get my ear on the ground ...
So what sits in between this PJB BG-400 combo and C4 cab, and the Elf and two Cab 27s? Lightest carry is 30 pounds for the Cab 27, and 40 pounds for the BG-400. Something for the smallest possible gig ...
The Rocket RB-112 combo is 26 pounds ... okay ... oh but looks to kill. That's something I'd like to see on my stage. The Double-Four? We know by now it's as clean as a clean amp can possibly be. Which makes me think of expanding my pedal board :: devil emoticon :: with other preamp pedals
Seems to me more preamps is about more recording and right now I can dial in everything Ampeg-y from a fliptop to an SVT. OTH, I have wanted another 15 for a good while ... A Rocket RB-115 :: scrim smack ::

Yeah the smallest possible amp for a gig feels counter-intuitive, yet makes sense. A combo makes a lot of sense when setup means plug one thing in for power. A combo with a post-EQ (wet) DI for a monitor, and FOH as needed. Assuming a proper FOH. And that's not a good assumption
Fact is right here we've CC members playing 100 and 200 watters on live gigs
