The Combo Club

1219181018-00.jpg Just thought of another way to be combodacious:1967 Gibson THUNDERBIRD NR>1970 Kasino (2x15/200W)line out>R200c, EFX send> R100 EFX return. Lay Kasino on its side with the 200c/100 on top. ROOOAAAR.

Hello everyone! Hope your day is going well. If you read a day or two ago, Nu's TE combo was sold to one of our newest members, Tim from Omaha, and we were kidding about my PJB D4 combo. Truth is, I'd made that deal because I've felt the Double-Four was slowly getting edged out both by the new Ampeg and the Markbass combo. Heck, I was even thinking about driving to Kalamazoo and dropping it off at RR's place free of charge so he could have stereo amps!

What? :woot: Dang! :sour: So close.

But this afternoon I found the perfect niche' for my little breadbox and that's using its Aux In for #2's iPad and record GarageBand sounds through it to the waiting mic. Let me tell you, it is perfect for that duty. The clarity from the twin speakers was astonishing as I added glockenspiel and flute, along with two channels of my bass, to "Eleanor Rigby." Yep, still working on this recording thang and I must admit, it's getting more fun. I'm assuming the PJB will also work beautifully for acoustic guitar too and plan to find out soon. I included a photo of my setup. Not overly professional-looking, but the hominess is relaxing. Thanks for reading! :woot:

Glad you found a new niche for it. I have found this to be my absolute go-to amp. So good sounding, and so light and portable. Particularly with the battery power!
:D

Not my first Hartke combo, and honestly, not what the 1155 was... But this is a potent little beastie. I love that clean, gently pummelling Hartke sound. In spades here.

Hey Count! Long time no hear from. Glad ya popped in to say hi. I’ve never found the opportunity to play through a Hartke before but I’d like to at some point, if for any reason just to find out why players love ‘em. Thanks for the pic!

Played through one once in a 'sitting in' situation. As a courtesy to its owner, I didn't mess with the EQ. Under those conditions,:meh:.

Hey man! I just haven't been using a combo lately, but I do miss the simpler form. I have had a combo and matching extension cab, I do get along with that format... Like the Jeff Berlin Mark bass stack... I'm just not that much a Markbass fan.

Holy Molely.. An 18!!!! Shiver me timbers. There goes the China cabinet followed by every window in the house.

Hahaha, I wish, but actually this is tuned for mostly mid range from Ampeg. The 4ohm version was the super low version. My Markbass combo handles the low B just fine and the Ampeg 18” adds all the fullness in everything else.

Our last post was on over 48 hours ago? Sheesh...

We're buried on P. 3 at the bottom, what the heck happened? I'm out at school for one day and the place falls asleep. Or is it because the last poster's moniker was a number and everyone knows that it's bad luck to follow a number-only name? Ah, I don't care, I'll still post right under it. Plus, 000451057947 (wow, that is long) owns a Markbass combo and should be in our club. Post a pic and I'll hand you a number.

So who's got what going on this weekend? Are there any gigs going on? Some recording goals to be reached? Maybe just noodling around with your favorite bass and combo? Let us know!

Have to finish with this one. So I was just reading a thread entitled "Combo Amp for Gigging" and of course, players are recommending their favorite amps, but one particular post made me believe again in Santa. It was from a particular gentleman who recently bought a Hartke combo and loved it. No big deal, right? Except this person was one of those anti-comboites who for what seemed like years poo-pooed combos whenever he had the chance. I replied that we had even sparred over the topic a long time ago.

It did my heart good that common sense had taken over and even if separates are still his bread 'n butter (and that's fine), the combo bass amp proved that it deserves a worthy spot at the table. So I invited him to join the CC and I hope he does. We'll welcome him with open arms, though I want his membership fee doubled...

That's it for me for now. Stop by, say hi, and please tell us what a combo amp is going to do for you this weekend! :hyper:

In part, but not because of, one bassist who regularly posts here (pictured at left) is just now home and healing following a small heart attack. Heart is good, and keeping a steady groove.

Yikes! I'm so glad you're home and your heart has its new groove on!

Howdy!
I played last weekend, so off this Sunday (currently on once or twice a month).
But I am working on Silversun Pickups' "Panic Switch", so my combo will have to put up with me practicing that. I've been listening non-stop to it for about three hours to get the timing and all deep down in my soul. 8^) Man, Nikki rocks (OK, so the whole band does, but I play bass).
Also, going to try for my first 50 mile bike ride in decades. Maybe longer, we'll see. I've got a number of 40-45 mile rides under my belt the past few months...

You bounce! That's good, keep swinging, sister! You got mojo going your way.
Big heart, big ups!
