I haven't played the SA200 obviously, but pillowy is one of the last words I would use to describe a DB750. Tight, punchy and with the massive power and headroom Tom mentions.jokerjkny said:interesting, i found the opposite.
the 750 seems much tighter and punchier to my ears, while the SA200 has that usually pillowy feel like most tube amps.

metron said:i cant say for sure but i doubt that putting 6550s or similar will up the power output to 300 watts. might give slightly more than with the stock tubes. kind of like when my v-4b has 6550s as opposed to the stock tubes, its still about a 100 watt amp. maybe 110.
jacove said:Tom, how would you describe the tonal difference between the SA200 and the DB680/DB728, it is obvious that there is a difference in headroom, volume and flexibility, but how would you say the tone differs....thanks!
iammr2 said:Tom, any chance you can give it a quick run through with an EA CxL112 and give some thoughts?
Sorry. Mine's not for sale! I meant to mention that I'm glad to see that you're babying your new SA200 in a SUS-4.tombowlus said:Okay, okay, I'll give one another listen!![]()
Mike Shevlin said:Hey Tom - I was just about to purchase an Aggie DB750. Quick Question - Do you think the Sadowski head sounds better. I don't play at huge volume & I play mostly the same stuff you do with a funk edge to my playing style.
Thanks.
tombowlus said:Well, I think that the SA200 is one of the best sounding heads I have heard, but then again, it sounds like maybe I need to give the 750 another listen. Joker's heard them both, though. What do you think, Jae?
Tom.
