I'd wait and see what happens with Tom putting in 6L6s. If that makes it 300 tube watts - i.e. equivalent to an SVT - then it should be enough to cover both gigs.

i cant say for sure but i doubt that putting 6550s or similar will up the power output to 300 watts. might give slightly more than with the stock tubes. kind of like when my v-4b has 6550s as opposed to the stock tubes, its still about a 100 watt amp. maybe 110.

I'd expect more power, but you are right, there is no guarantee that it would hit 300w. I'll see if I can dig anything up from Roger/Dolf as to the expected power output with 6550's/KT-88's.

That will make for an interesting head to head. I don't want to speculate until I hear them side by side, though. Both will sound very, very good, I am sure.

Well, I think that the SA200 is one of the best sounding heads I have heard, but then again, it sounds like maybe I need to give the 750 another listen. Joker's heard them both, though. What do you think, Jae?

I've had the all-tube amps Aguilar db359, Db680/db728, Ampeg SVT and the Mesa Boogie 400+...every one of them have had a more thick and full tone compared to my DB750...but the db750 is damn close! What I like about the db750 is that it stays tight and is somewhere very friendly to rooms and boominess....I would love to hear the SA200, but I think there will be the thick vs. tight difference because of the all-tube vs. mosfet power amp, depends on what you want.

if you dont need the volume, then the SA200 by a wide margin.

the tones are terrific, and again, its one of the tighter all tube amps i've tried. furry in all the right places, yet w/ a wide bandwidth of all tube glory. again, its destined to be a classic. still saving up pennies for mine. :p

course, the DB750 is an awesome amp for my needs, but only cause i'm a crazy go nuts Acme user, and need the massive wattage.

still, nothing sounds like an all tube freakfest, and the sadowsky delievers like the mail man.

also, and this is only cause of my granny back, the SA is that much lighter and easier to deal. the aguilar is practically like a sack of bricks w/ a cement mixer in tow.
