With a J5 loaded with rounds or the P5 with flats, I was having fun tonight. Nothing fancy, no "channels" or anything, just pure tube tone.
My thoughts on the DSM Noisemaker & Humboldt Electronics Simplifier Bass Station:

If anyone is willing to list some of the Preamps that have aux in and headphone setups I'm looking mainly for a quality headphone practice rig.
I didn't think about that - very interesting because it can double as a guitar practice rig.Line 6 hx stomp has that also. Best sound i’ve ever had through headphones
Thanks! This was one I was interested in but didn't realize that. So do you use some sort of usb to 1/4" cable for that? Also have you tried this and confirmed that it sounds good?EBS MicroBass III
EBS MicroBass II (FX return works as Aux in-see page 6 of the manual).

Get yourself a Rolls PM50 and you can run whatever you want into it. It’s how I practice at home and it works great. I bought a cheap direct box to run my pedalboard to it, and can plug my phone into the monitor input to practice along to stuff. If anyone is willing to list some of the Preamps that have aux in and headphone setups I'm looking mainly for a quality headphone practice rig. I've found some but looking them all up piecemeal is getting tedious so I thought I'd ask the experts. And maybe there are a ton out there now.
Right now I know about the Ampeg Scrambler and Darkglass units. I like Mesa stuff but the Subway plus doesn't look like it has that. Open to suggestions.
Two Notes Le Bass has aux in/phones out. Plus MIDI, a tube, and an FX loop, if memory serves me correct. If anyone is willing to list some of the Preamps that have aux in and headphone setups I'm looking mainly for a quality headphone practice rig. Checked out the minnow - it doesn't appear to have them.@Ryno1330
Here's a few:
Trickfish Trilobite
Trickfish Minnow
Shift-Line Olympic
The forthcoming Simplifier Bass Station
Is there a point in having both the Aguilar Tone Hammer DI and the Shift-Line Olympic?
I play through a Gallien-Krueger amplifier, which I like for its punchy, clean tone, and I have a SLO for those times I want a warmer, darker tone.
That said, I've been GASing for a TH ever since I jammed at this Aguilar-sponsored rehearsal studio last week. I realize this is advertising playing its mind games, and that the TH would serve a similar purpose as the SLO. But... is there something the TH can do the SLO can't? @chadhargis? Thanks!

Yep. The TH has the AGS distortion thing going on. The SLO can be pushed to overdrive, but it’s not a switchable effect.
The Tone Hammer is a good preamp but not in the league of the SLO.
