...and a couple of my Ibanez effects. I think Ibanez made the very coolest effects boxes of the late 70s and early 80s.

I've been working on a deal for an Ibanez Musician the last couple of days. I'm stoked the get one again. I owned one 25 years ago and regret letting it out of my hands.

IMO Ibanez produces some of the prettiest production basses in the biz. They have their dogs too but generally, it appears the company really takes care in the visual design.

I agree with you on that. They're basses are pretty good looking on the whole. Haven't been too many designs that they made that didnt really visually appeal to me.

Thanks. I love the features of this bass. Can you believe Ibanez only made this bass in 1983 and 84??? The body is Alder with Birdseye maple top. The bridge, tuners and electronics are all nice...I love this bass.

If I could help design a bass for Ibanez I would bring back this design completely with those MM style pickups and an active preamp. The soundgears I used to use had great electronics. Truth be told...if Ibanez had made a guitar with a body like this and the PJ electronics I had in my soundgears, I don't think I would have ever switched to Music Man basses (which is what I mainly play today.)

It's an excellent instrument, and very versatile. The Bartolini's certainly take some time to grow accustom to.

The bass shall soon have a Skjold ramp on it, so I'll post pictures once it's installed.

I don't have a digicam, but I do love my Ibanez ATK 305. It's transparent orange.
Weighs a ton, sounds sooooo goood.
And cost $400 NZ second hand, which at the time was about $250 US.

My brother has an ATK 300 FL. Droolworthy. I missed out on one in an auction last week. Was not happy.

I also have an ibanez (please excuse me) 6-string up high type guitar. It still rules.

I´ve never weighted my ATK, but my left shoulder knows that she IS heavy. So heavy that I had to replace the standard strap that I used with my SR400, with a 3-inch planet waves bass strap.

Talking about how she sounds, I can tell you that I forget all that weight in my back when I play through my amp.:bassist:
