The Official 2012 NHL Stanely Cup Finals Thread: Part II

"The NHL has announced the following schedule for the Cup Finals, with all games at 8 pm:
Game 1: Wednesday, May 30th
Game 2: Saturday, June 2nd
Game 3: Monday, June 4th
Game 4: Wednesday, June 6th
Game 5: Saturday, June 9th
Game 6: Monday, June 11th
Game 7: Wednesday, June 13th[2]

Kings pull it out in the dwindling minutes of OT and come up with the victory. Lots of controversy and interesting moments throughout the game.
Back in the third when Fraser got knocked into the Kings bench it had me laughing my ass off.
In OT Mike Smith lost his glove for an extended period of time and there were some questions of whether or not the whistle should have been blown. Apparently the rule only requires a whistle if a goalie's mask comes off, not for anything else.
Late in OT Brown ended up kneeing Roszival who went off the ice injured, no penalty called. It was a cross-ice play after an offsides and it was hard to tell exactly where he was hit, but it certainly took a toll. Shortly afterwards, Penner gets a nice bounce and buries it. Game over, and a lukewarm handshake follows as the Coyotes end their season with a great run.
Now the Kings get a week off and continue to be well rested going into each series. With the Rangers and Devils going into tomorrow 2-2, I can easily see this going to a game 7 like the Rangers past two series'. Lets see how much of 1994 we can recreate, heh.

I really enjoyed the game. These guys are so fast. I still shake my head in amazement at how good the players are these days. Fast, smart, and fn big. Incredible.
Great game last night, does Dustin Brown get reviewed for his hit right before the goal? I doubt it, but it sure seemed to throw PHO in a funk.

I've seen teams come back from long layoffs like that really flat. OTOH, it looks like the NJ-NYC series will go the distance and they are going to beat each other up. On paper the Rangers are the best team left, but this is Hockey, we have parity, and they play on Ice.
There's already a bit of National Hockey press about the Wings pursuing Parise and Sutter. The Wings will have the cap space to add two serious free agents, and they may do some trading too. As far as I'm concerned the only untouchable on the team is Datsyuk.

The Kings have had to wait every series for someone else to finish, and it hasn't slowed their roll at all. They seem to be able to maintain their determination and focus even after being off for a week.
Last night, it took a little while for them to find their game and the intensity that goes with it, and it cost them early on, but they finally found their groove. I've never seen them play with more of that intensity than in OT. It was crushing.
I wonder if the next opposing team might start declining penalties. In the playoffs, the Kings have scored as many short-handed goals as they've given up.

Terrible start, played with our usual underdog urgency and caught up, and then blew it.
When Callahan hit that post I knew that not being a goal would be the deciding factor in the game. One inch off and we may have had it.
The bar I was at was quite disappointed last night after a great comeback. This will have to be like the Ottawa series and we need to pull out two in a row. If we can win at The Rock then I have faith, but sheesh, has anyone won a SC going to game 7 in every series?
Wondering how many Rangers fans will be at game 6 in New Jersey? They've been pretty loud in 3 & 4.
If Rangers can continue as they played most of the 2nd and 3rd periods last night and get enough support of their fans, they can pull of another win there and get that series back to New York.

First time Lundqvist has given up more than 3 goals in this year's playoffs.
I expect a big Rangers presence at the next game. Fans can't lose hope now, and this team has come back all season in various situations. We need a guarantee

That one goal on Lundqvist was nuts. Off the skate of a Devil in front to turn 90° and go parallel to the goal line, then hit a Ranger skate and head into the net. Flukey goal. Even Saint Patrick wouldn't have stopped that one.
And Lundqvist did manage to make a save off Richards! And that shot was darn quick too! Did you catch Richards congratulating him afterwards?

Haha Richards gave him a nice pat on the helmet for that one.. I don't recall which Devils stick it bounced off of, but he needs to be careful playing that puck behind the net next time.

Winning early & resting is its own reward. But don't jinx it. Besides, we want to the Kings to beat either of them fairly. I don't wantt to hear excuses about how Eastern Conference had to go more games, & was worn out. Great now I'm jinxing it.
