Thanks. It's good to know these instruments are available with Hipshot bridges and tuners. That's certainly what I would do.

I admit that I don't need to re-intonate every day, but having to use the loosen/slide/tighten procedure when the screw adjustment is so easy and fast would just irritate me.

Got to admit that the one thing on my Joker bass that I was a bit unhappy about was having to do the loosen/slide/tighten procedure for intonation....

Having said that.....It's not the hardest thing to do either....

If you're ordering something to be built for you then you can specify that anyway, I ordered my Jake with Hipshot ultralite tuners and a hipshot a-style bridge, for example. That said, my Sandberg bridge works the way you're describing and it hasn't been a huge issue for me personally. It's not like you're changing your setup and intonation on a daily basis (or at least I don't).

Ok. So I was torn between buying a Sandberg or a Maruszczyk neither of which I have ever played. From the Youtube videos and demos I like the looks and tones of both. I decided to go with the Maruszczyk. I think the nut and bridge specs are more my preference. You have both. Of course, it's a bit like apple and oranges. There are so many models and other variables. But, in general, how would you compare build quality, tone and playablity?

I'm still waiting on my Maruszczyk, I'll gladly compare them both when it arrives. I absolutely adore the Sandberg though.

Couch volume was more of a fringe benefit and curiosity. ;) Good to know low action is possible. I just have to decide if I really want to sell one of my basses that I don't use, but the top is a little too pretty to let go.....

Got mine yesterday. I wouldn't say it's the be all end all but for the price, around $1300 including shipping can't beat it. Action, playability, electronics and aesthetics are way above average though I prefer a gloss finish. Love the string spacing.
A little neck dive but with a 24 fret 5 banger I would expect that. The overall weight is a very manageable 9.8lbs. Some nice case candy extras like 2 certificates, beautiful catalog, a Christmas card and a plush strap. Not like the crappy ones included with some name brand instruments. Also, shipping was pretty fast. Actually arrived a day early. Very pleased. Next time, now that I know the quality is there, I'll order custom specs rather than off the shelf.

Yup, it arrived. Really happy so far. It came with a "weird" setup but that was fixed in a matter of minutes. No flaws to speak of at first glance, really a stunning instrument and it sounds great as well. I really like the strap you get with it, and the gigbag is definitely above average as well. I'm still waiting on my preferred strings to show up but after that it's time to do a really nice setup and get the intonation right, at that point I'll probably know more.
NBD, so... I heard you like P basses?
