Since it's slow, I'll post this. Swapped out the standard Wilkinson tuners on my Paddock with some Gotoh GB350 Res-o-lite tuners. Disregard the dirty fingerboard and mismatched C string. I misplaced my replacement string and need to get another.
According to the bathroom scale, it shaved exactly 1lb off, but maybe I need to double check that.

Those knobs were an expensive addition, but I never regretted it. I love everything about that bass.

I have been using DR Neon strings for over a decade. It started as an experiment because I thought they might look cool, and it turns out they sound really good. At least for the sound I'm trying to get. Before I put them on this bass, I thought they might look a little gaudy, but it actually works really well. A couple of weeks ago at a blues festival in Montana, the lights guys took advantage of them by dropping the main lights a bit and blasting the UV LEDs, and the effect was dramatic. (It was completely dark outside, so the glowing effect of the strings was magnified by both the strong UV lights and ambient darkness. The effect was so pronounced that the inside of my fingers were reflecting the green glow. That would have made a cool photo.)

I love it. That cab gives me whatever I want. Clean, grit, loud, soft, melt-your-face, whatever.

Very cool, I used to use the DR peacock blues when I was in a Tool tribute band about 20 years ago and they were great strings especially when the lights hit them.

How heavy is that cab?
I’ve never had a chance to demo a PJB cab but I’m certainly intrigued with the possible configurations.

It's a compact cab, and heavier than it looks (built like a tank). I like it, though, because it has wheels and an extendo-handle, so you can pull it around like an airline carry-on. You can even pull it up steps that way, which I sometimes do. But it's not so heavy that you can't lift it and carry it a while.

The DR Black Beauties are my favourite strings in terms of sound. They just happen to look cool, and the coating for longevity is a bonus. I believe they are the same as the Neons, except black.
I just wish they had more gauges.
I get them from FretNation because they told me that they carry singles of most DR strings. So, I mix and match to make a good set for myself.

I'm fortunate in that the standard 45-105 sets work great for me. I think there is a difference between the black beauties and the neons, though. IIRC, the black beauties are stainless steel strings whereas the neons are nickle. I think the coatings are chemically the same, though, except for the color.

Has anyone ever added (post-creation) a piezo pickup/piezo bridge saddle pickups on Maruszczyk basses ordered with the standard monorail bridge pieces? (maybe even swapping the monorails with a different monorail set)

I have a hankering for a piezo, but I'm thinking the monorail option might have limited that.

That should be easy to find, that fretless Paddock I ordered had piezo saddles in the ETS 2-part. I’d reach out to the mono bridge mfg and see if they have an option. You’ll have to update your pre with a controller too. If you look at Best Bass Gear they have an option from Noll.

Do you know if they have a tapered B and E option? I’m looking at the light set sku-6-00781-00395-7 (.40-.120) I’ve sent them an email as well.

I do not know.

I know they used to make short scale versions of at least pink and green, but they discontinued doing that for whatever reason.

For context (as was discussed above) we were talking about DR‘s coated colored strings. I was asking if DR, who has neon blue coated strings, has a tapered B & E… and they don’t.

I already have good options for strings that do have tapered B and E strings, however not in nickel strings that are coated in neon blue.

Does anyone know or will someone measure the string wind length (i.e. the distance from the ball end to the rear side of the nut and to the string post on the B string) for a 32" 5-string Elwood?

33 11/16" from inside ball end to headstock side of nut.
33 15/16" from outside ball end to headstock side of nut.
This is a Hipshot A-style bridge.

1 7/16" from headstock side of nut to contact with string post.
Tuner is 1/2" Hipshot.

Bass is currently strung with DR Sunbeam med scale.

I was told on the 15th of August that all the parts (everything) for my bass had finally arrived and assembly would begin.
I am guessing an approximate build time of 15 weeks.
Then shipping down under to Australia.
So, if I am lucky I will get my bass for Christmas.

Oh the waiting. Trying to be patient.
I am, I am.
I know that the waiting will be worth it, 100%.
But the waiting now that I know that the process is under way . . . . . I think I can, I think I can.
Christmas is not that far away, right ? ?
