The Official Peavey Thread!!!!

I've owned a TL-Six and a TL-Five.

Now I own a TL-Six again! :hyper:

Great basses. Highly overlooked.

Agree. I have a purple TL-Six that I picked up for $750. Awesome bass. I also have a Rick 4001. I can't see buying any more basses.

The old Millenniums are fantastic basses. They are the reason that Dan Lakin introduced the Skyline series of Lakland (he told me this himself at the Chicago GTG.) They failed because Lakland responded with the Skylines, and because Peavey simply decided to severely reduce the number of basses it makes in the USA.

I a/b'ed my Millennium yesterday with a great Warwick Streamer and if compared very favorably although the two basses are pretty different. I would say a Millennium is equal to a USA Lakland or any boutique Fender style bass.

The imports are nice, but not in the same class as the USA Millenniums.

I notice that the Millenniums are cheap. I mean, is it a good axe despite a the price tag?

And what's the difference between the old Millenniums (the one with the MM style PU bridge PU & the Jazz neck PU) and the new ones (Both MM style PUs)

Are the old ones as good as the new ones?

ALiP - The old ones are 35" scale and have Hipshot bridges and tuners. Some of the older models had the Plus designation which usually carried a drop-D tuner and upgraded fingerboard and top. They are great basses and are pretty affordable used - generally in the $450 - $600 range.

G3 - that is a great looking bass at any price.

I never tire of posting this picture, even though it's an entry-level bass. It's just so pretty!

I have the string version of this bass, with the tiger eye finish.
I gig with mine regularly, and I would hesitate to call it just an "entry level" bass.

It sounds great, is light as a feather, and plays like a dream-really. I can't believe it is only a two hundred dollar bass.

Sure, it's great for beginners. Actually, IMHO it's good for just about any level. It's all in what you make of it, I guess.

That bass of yours does look sweet! Enjoy :hyper:

so, like i said, i will post my bass to.it's a Peavey, but the model, don't know it yet for sure.it looks like its a NTB4(like A.J.from peavey.com sayd, but he wasn't sure).i do know that it's an european model, so u wont find this over there :P...i just bought it some fender 7150 round...great strings, and i put it new tuners , Gotoh...i would like to change the pickups, to something newer, but seems like nothing fits....

it's passive, and sounds pretty great:)

vs The discontiued Peavey USA Millenium

Who wins?

My three USA Millennium 5 Pluses:

I played a 4 string USA Millenium around Christmas time. Looked very much like the one on the far right.

They were asking $775 for it. Had it been a 5 string and I'd not been bass shopping for someone else, then I'd had bought it. Had a very nice rich tone to it and the action was quite comfortable.

Ironicly, the bass I did purchase was a Millenium BXP 5 string. Its not mine, but for $250 the thing cant be beat.

Maybe I was a little too harsh on the poor thing. I find the pickups a little weak (compared to my Dimarzio-equipped SX and G3), but i've been loving it more and more lately. One thing that I do know, it is never leaving my family.:D

Thanks for the kind words!
