Hey guys, Im looking to get a 1212L (I already have a 2 year 1210R) and was wondering what the opinion is on the latest versions as i know Jorg is always looking to improve on things. Anything i need to lookout for?

From what I hear, Jorg is experimenting with some new drivers, they're a Celestion Neo that apparently sounds a LOT closer to the standard magnet than the Eminence. Don't know for sure, haven't had it proven to me yet. So you might want to wait a month or two, or specify when you order it.

TBH even with sipping its cheap compared to buying it over here but i need one by the 14th June so cant wait.
Ill also probably order from a Uk based company, it will cost a bit more but not a lot and i need to use a credit card, thats why i cant order direct from Jorg.
When you get it, pop out the front driver and look at the back, see if it's one of the new ones. I'm really curious.
Has anyone tried the new Mini 12R and 12L yet? Just curious what you guys think of them, and how different they may sound. I have been using a HT112 (well, 2 of them) for a while and these look kind of similar to the HT with some neat variations (Line-X, Neo, etc)

Wow, I just went to the Schro website and checked this out. Seems like a good idea. Moving the tweeter off to the side to provide more cabinet volume and larger porting. I'm assuming it'll offer more bottom end. Plus, it looks like the weight went down.
I've got a new pair of Mini 12+R's. I really like them. I changed from an Epi UL310 S2 to the Schroeders. I don't have any regrets. I was a little concerned about the Schroders with all of the comments that people make about a lack of low end and aggressive mids, but either these cabs don't have that characteristic sound, or I just don't hear it. I think they sound very full and punchy. Yes, I have to tweak in a little more bass from the amp than I did with the Epi, but they respond very well to eq'ing.

I agree. The overall size of the cabinet went down, but the internal volume is probably pretty close to the same as the older version. The front board that the driver gets mounted too looked like it was set back a few inches on the older cabs. It was probably like that to open up the front of the 12 so the sound didn't get muffled, but it wasted a lot of space. The new cabs are lighter and have a smaller footprint. At only 25 lbs for the R series, I don't know how many people would spend the extra $ for the L series. Unfortunately I haven't ever played through one of Jorgs other cabs, so I don't know if they sound better or worse. For something that is only slightly larger than most 110's, weighs 25 lbs, can take 500 watts, is super punchy and articulate, and doesn't have any problems with a low B, I don't know of anything else out on the market right now that is better.

A few TBers, namely Chef, have said that the 1212L sounds quite similar to the 1210R, perhaps a bit beefier.
It is my understanding that Jorg is using the new Celestions for all his neos now... but I am not 100% sure on that.

I have read from quite a few people that the 1212L is closer to the 1210R than the 1212R and this appeals to me.
While i like my 1210R i use a UL212 with my other band for a bit more low end thickness but i do miss the extra punch of the 1210R. So having a sort of in between is sounding like a good thing. Otherwise i would go for another 1210R.
Ive only ever played one Schroeder cab (mine) so dont really know how the others will sound regardless of whats in them and i wont get to try one out before i buy but im sure that whatever is in it ill be happy with. Im more interested in the tweeter changes as i believe the earlier ones could sound quite harsh. I tend to keep mine backed off but dont really find it a problem.
Are the newer ones round or rectangular?.
I have the new round tweeter in my new 410L. It's not harsh at all, in fact the cab is voiced so that with the tweeter up all the way you get more high mids and less useless (to me anyway) highs. I just thought about it, and I'm not hearing any fret clacks, finger squeaks or other annoying upper register sounds, but pops still sound strong and metallic. I'm using a passive Jazz bass and my Eden WT400, with the tone control all the way up and the amp more or less flat, just EQ'ed to emphasize the "C" note on the G-string, 5th fret, which is really dead with this cabinet, although not with my MM Sterling, only with the Fender.
My friend and amp tech Vinny was impressed by the tweeter, which he knew as being mellower than the Foster horns on the Eden and SWR cabs. He says they're made in China (as are the Celestions), but that doesn't mean anything, because everything is being made there now. He says the circuit inside the cab is really different from other cabs he's seen.
All I know is it's loud as heck, even at half volume on the Eden. There's plenty of bass, just not the kind of useless (to me) low frquency mud that gets lost in a mix ten feet from the stage. I can't wait to use it, but I'm thinkin' I might need a bigger amp.

Its a black rhino covered one but i guess its pot luck whats in it. Not to bothered TBH, as long as it works.
Im hoping its a bit louder than my UL212 although thats not why im buying it. I just need something smaller.
