For anyone in the Cincinnati Oh area, I stopped in Buddy Roger's in Montgomery today and they have a used Schroeder 1212R for $450, if anyone is in the market. I wish I had the spare cash for it to pair up with the one I've got, but kid #2 will be here in a matter of days  Just thought I'd pass the info along...

I saw that a while back. It's been there for quite a while. They might even deal on it. You have good taste in gear...:D

Still wondering about the Walkabout 1210 combo. Anybody???

I am really happy with my Walkabout /1212L combination. I've yet to max it out. The Mesa warms the overall sound I think.

Thanks! The reason I was thinking about the Walkabout was the ability to run a 2 ohm load.

I was talking to Jorg and the 15+L can be ordered to match up under the 1210/1212 cab which would add some nice bottom when I need something a little bigger.

Quick question, as I am very torn here.

I'm putting in an order for a 410L soon and I have the possibility of trading my GK 800RB for an Ampeg V4BH. Which of these would be better suited for the 410L? I'm leaning for the Ampeg, but I just need to be sure it isn't a dumb move.

I'm waiting on a 1212 to be delivered, so I can't comment on sound quality issues, but as I've juggled amp options and exchanged posts with TBers on the subject during my wait for the cab, I've come to the conclusion that, as the Schro is going smaller and lighter, I will try to keep my amp smaller and lighter, too. And related directly to your post, a high-watt GK was my upper limit.

If the cheap-but-cool Acoustic B200H I picked up (like a GK it's ~20 lbs. and compact) sounds too whimpy, I'll go for a modern tiny amp option (LMKII, Shuttle 6, Walkabout, etc.) or an 800RB or suchlike high-wattage solidstate or hybrid compact, and avoid a heavy "big box" head.

I recently got a GK 700RB-II to go with my 410L and the tone is freakin' killer. I bought the GK as a backup for my Thunderfunk 420, and I love both heads pretty equally, but my band definitely prefers the GK. They claim to hear my lines better, it cuts through incredibly well.

I've never used the Ampeg in question, but I have run a few all tube heads into my 410L as well, and they do sound nice, but for my tone goals in a rock band, they didn't quite do what I wanted: the tube heads created a Wall O' Sound as opposed to punching through a loud mix like I prefer.

It really depends on what you want to sound like, but I would definitely hold off ditching the 800RB until you ran it through a Schroeder.

dude that 800RB is a dope amp, dont you have time to test the results first?

Hey all,

I finally gave in to the GAS attack and did my best to stimulate my tone and Jorg's bank account simultaniously!! I placed an order for his new 410L to sit under either my SD800, iAmp800 or recently re-tubed TNT (Canned Heat era) 200watt all tube head. I haven't gigged with that head since the re-tube two years ago and I'm very eager to let 'er rip.

I usually use the SD with my 1210R with good results and the 410L will work well for the outdoor and large club gigs.

I wonder!!???!! How about the iAmp driving both Schroe cabs.
1000 watts @ 2ohms.

Later, Kirk

The iAmp would sound SICK driving your 2 Schros with 1000 watts per channel-those cabs love the wattsPeace...DAcat

Here is the 1212R with a Carvin B1500, LMII and Shuttle 6.0

I can't say how useful the comparison of amps are since they are recorded in various settings and two of the clips are pretty rough in terms of sound quality.

However, I think the signature tone of this cab can heard in all 3 clips. It has a distinct tone that is not the standard with their low-mid emphasis.

Here is a clip from TBer Smash:

He's playing a Carvin B1500, 1212R and a Lakland Jazz

I'm playing my only gigging bass... P bass with Labella Flats, and SD 1/4 pounders

Here's a clip of my 1212R and my LMII:

Its outside in a parking lot, with the cab placed directly on concrete. I had to give the bass eq a boost (which I usually don't do).
Be sure to choose the "watch in high quality" option as the camera's mic is distorting somewhat.

The LMII matches very well with the 1212r IME. Its VERY loud. In that outside clip I only had the volume on at 10:30 and Gain at 1:00. Aside from the bass being boosted and the highs cut, everything else is flat, filters off.

Its incredible how loud the LMII and 1212R can get for such a portable rig. Certainly loud enough for your average cover band.

I'll never sell either of these units... and from me that says alot!

Here's a pic:

Could someone explain the voicing of the schroeder cabs? If it's as ballsy as my mesa cabs, I might be considering one. What brand/model of speakers do they sound similar to?

Sorry if this has been done... I've been searching a lot to no avail...

Wondering when you were gonna get in here :smug:

Punchy is the word that I hear the most, but I don't even own one yet.

Well, I now have 1 band practice and a whole lot of noodling under my belt with the new rig. I'll gig with it outdoors Aug 14th for the final evaluation. So far I love it. The 8-Ohm 1115+L under the 4 Ohm 1212L is my thing. I'm setting the Eden 550 head with a minimal, Mona Lisa smile to keep the low mids but cut the upper mids, a touch of compression and all else flat. Whoa.....the punch of the 12s is still there, but with a nice soft, low-flying carpet underneath. I also tried the 15 with my LM11 as a stand alone and it was easy to hear over my always-too-loud drummer. That cab may be the ultimate in portability/tone/volume. Jorg says the standard 15+L is 29lbs. Mine's a little heavier beacause I asked him to size it like the 1212L. Anyway, this is all I'll ever need for a gig rig. I'm now a full Schro convert. My last bubble of cab GAS is to sell my Epi UL2-112 and get a mini12+L (in blue rhino like the rest:-).
