I hear this all the time. I don't find the tension any different with bass strings. I starting doing it about 5 years ago and have had no problems.
Do you have any build thread here? I'm curious about the process.
I actually don't, but it's not complicated. I buy a bridge, tuners and strings, take it to Eric's Guitar and have him install and also make a nut.
Damn, typo, it's supposed to be bass. I fixed it.

Only some are guitars, as noted with each one. Eric fills the unnecessary guitar tuner holes and either enlarges or drills new ones as needed, also paints the head if necessary. The guitar pickups are perfectly fine, sometimes I buy covers just to hide the six poles.
Time to invest in some Eden guitar necks with paddle headstocks!
I had one of these in the early 80's. I bought it new and traded my Musicmaster in plus a couple hundred dollars. It was natural like the yours on the right. I gigged with it for a couple of years, then it let me down when I broke the E string at a 1 day recording session, and I had to borrow my friend's EB to do the track (I think there was a bur on the bridge saddle.) I traded it as a down payment on a Ric 4001. Wish I still had it now. They're rare as hen's teeth.

Actually it does, I had a used Rob Allen that I liked. But there was several things I did not like about it. I did not like the F hole he cuts into the basses (it rubbed my arm to much). And I do not like binding on basses (I know I am different).
So I messaged Rob and asked about an order - at which time he tells me he does not do special orders (also I wanted an orange tint bass). So I figured I would stay with the used one.
I kept watching his site and about a year later this bass showed up. NO BINDING, NO F HOLE and paduk (an orange kind tint). Great so I logged on and tried to buy it and it seemed to be locked out I could not buy it but it did not say it was sold. So I sent him a message and I was lucky - he was on line.
He said he did not know - to try again. So I did and it let me buy it.
So did I not know what I was doing on the computer, or did he remember me when he made this bass and waited for me to contact him.
I do not know - but I got it. And I can tell you, I have had way to much bass stuff over the years that I have bought and sold.
But the only way I am going to part with this bass is when they put me in the ground.
Oh yeah I forgot - It is the only bass that my church band wants me to bring. They said leave the electric basses home.
Schwwiiiiiiiing!!! I've tried to develop a personal relationship with Rics over the years. I've had a black one, white one, natural, and trans red. We just didn't get along, but dang it, that is sexy good sir!
