No, not yet. Pete put the neck in the pocket for me to see, but it obviously still needed to be bolted on and strung up.

All of you just need to sit down! I was talkin' about Pete Skjold on this board back in 2003 when he built me his first bass after moving to Texas!!

O.K. I guess it's official.. besides my Lion's Pride bass in the upcoming batch, I'm also getting a custom series 6 string fretless. (I've been playing a fretless Ibanez SR506 at church lately, and really dig playing the fretless 6 at church....so I thought maybe I should "upgrade" the Ibanez!!)
Tom.. Your fretless sounded soooo good I went with the same wood combo. Only I think I'll be putting a spalt maple top on it.

Great news! Man, I gotta say, Pete builds some mean basses, but I think he reserves some special magic for his fretless instruments.
My fretless saw its first gig duty last weekend, and I was just blown away. Despite not really spending any time honing my fretless skills, I played it about half of the night, and it even sounded like I knew what I was doing! 
I credit the bass, of course. 
Here's my fun little rig and the toys I had to play with.
Well, I don't broadcast this, but it was my idea to have the first GTG at Pete's shop. I approached him with the concept. I'm REALLY glad that it's worked out so well for him.
I have to agree. I'm still upset at myself for ever getting rid of that burled redwood topped fretless. It was the absolute best sounding fretless I'd ever heard or played.. until yours. I know people are probably unbelieving when you say you could make your fretless sound fretted.. but man I know!! For a while my Skjold fretless was my only bass... other bass players were always asking me how I got a fretless to sound like that, and then also have that really great fretelss mwah.. all in one bass. And it had a great slap tone as well...

Man, that bass is a beauty! I always loved that fretless.
Unfortunately I do. The bass has been destroyed (in my humble opinion). From me, it went to Brian Batey, a great player (primarily fretless). Brian had a history of flipping basses fairly quickly, but he kept that one for quite a while. He traded it to Cameron at tradingbasses, and Cameron sent it off and had it fretted. I'm not sure why... I contacted Cameron a couple of times trying to get it back, but he had already sent it off for speedbumps. It will probably appear on Cameron's site soon.. too bad. I'm sure it sounds great fretted.. but it was such a great sounding fretless.
I just noticed what an awful picture of me. I'm now 40lbs lighter, and twice as strong. Seriously.
