Okay, I need some input...I've decided that I want put inlays on the fingerboard of my '96 Streamer. The body is cherry and the neck is flame maple and bubinga with a wenge board. Do I go with maple blocks or maple dots?

Its the same people posting the same basses chapter after chapter. And talk about the same things over, and over....

I can understand seeing a difference between the Spector thread and the Warwick. I own two Euro Spectors currently and absolutely love them but I found the Spector board sort of closed to the outsiders. That has been my experience and same as a few others but I do read through it all the time because despite what I might find as sort of a clique that might only be because those obvious main guys are really knowledgeable about their beloved Spectors and share with each other clips and support and an all in all deep appreciation for all things Spector all the time. I admire it and I learn from them about different years and designs between Euro, USA, Asian imports it’s a great place to get schooled on Spectors. I absolutely love them and if there was no Warwick I would be right over there most of the time.

There is also the not so underlying distain from many of the deep Spector guys for the Streamer body shape and its obvious origins and apparent lack of follow through on monies owed or what have you from Hans to Stuart. There is nothing more admirable from anyone that loyalty it’s a dying trait and I “get it”. That isn’t an accident that there are many Spector guys who would do anything to defend and support Stuart and all things Spector. That is no accident either that is an awesome company who supports there artists and has excellent customer support and follow through and fast response time.

My best bud from CA is an endorsed Spector artist and I have heard nothing but praise from him about the company and he isn’t paid he just loves them to death. We are both lefty guys and the only thing I wish Mr. Spector would do is make some of those mouthwatering USA models lefty. I personally have owned about 7 or 8 Spectors fretless, fretted, 4 string, and 5 and always the quality control is superb and fretwork is awesome and Euro has pretty much the same string spacing as our Wicks but the 5 for the most part are 35” scale and I like that for drop tunings as all my Wicks are 34”.

The only thing I can share here is my Warwick experience. I currently own 5 and have bought and sold maybe 5 or 6 others. I own and use a Warwick 10.1 Extreme head and a Pro 4.1 cab just for practicing in my home office. I do have a long history with them and some good knowledge to share and anything I can help with or share about my love and experiences with anything Warwick I would be glad to do. I don’t classify myself as a Warwick expert but I have been gigging recording and modding and playing German Warwicks for over 10 years so whatever I can offer I would be glad too. I am currently working on my own YouTube page and my goal is to do some Warwick vids as well as some other so I will let that be known once there is some content there. I will be doing some other sort of impromptu to demo/reviews on my other basses and the differences of strings and preamps and pickups as I change them out all the time. Peace.

the guys in the spector thread are really cool, once you get them to open up a little bit. you are right about them, absolutely knowledgeable about their spectors and they pretty much live and breath their spectors. but the spector customer support is top tier. i mean when the vp of the company emails you back for any questions you have about your instrument, whatever it may be, that is what helps keep you dedicated to them. they make you feel appreciated. me personally love spectors but i like other companies basses too. such as warwicks. i think they offer something a little bit different. which is why i have one coming today. it wasnt much, but it was all i can afford. nonetheless, ill get what i want out of it.
it seems the wick community on tb really doesnt talk about jack. thats a sad thing when there is so much to talk about but hey, to each their own. just stay rockin'! :bassist:

That's the 2010 Limited Edition $$.

About this bass..sorry I was on vacation for a few days just got back. I own a Corvette Jazzman, a Streamer Stage II, and Thumb NT fretless and a Thumb NT fretted all 5 strings and I have owned several other German Warwicks including a $$ 5. I always regretted moving the $$ 5 for the electronics. I mean they are so versatile being able to run each side of the pickups as single coil or in series or parallel. It gave just a ton of useful tones some real jazz like and some fat MusicMan like. All the tones with clear mids and sound of the wood coming through and solid full B string.

The LTD is similar but the maple neck gives even more clear aggressive low and high mids but is evened out due to it being neck through. The fretwork and the neck are the best I have had on any Warwick I have played. The pickups unlike the $$ are active and the switching is slightly different than the passive pickups in the standard $$. You can actually switch from each individual coil on each pickup or run each pickup both coils. I find it even more versatile than the standard $$. The first day I got it I brought it to the studio to record. My band is right in the middle of doing some serious recordings of about 5 tracks to mix down and sell and submit to local radio stations in our area.

I have rehearsal tomorrow night and what I will do is try and get recording samples of what we have done so far. We are recording drums and bass first. I was listening to vocals and guitars in headphones and my drummer and I tracked with me going direct. The first song I did with my Corvette Jazzman and the last two songs I used my LTD Corvette. I will try and get them just as they are right now just raw drums and bass so you can hear it. My God it sounds great. I used the LTD with both pickups in single coil and the coils both closest to the neck on. I record with the mids cut just a little and the bass and treble at like ¾. I ran my basses through an analog MXR chorus with just a touch of effect mostly just to beef up not for whooshy effects. Then I run through my MXR M-80 direct D.I. box with the color button on. It acts almost like an exciter but nothing else on M-80 on no EQ or grind just clean with the color button. Then not using the direct from the MXR M-80 (too noisy and dirty for recording IMO) from the ¼” normal send unbalance I ran through my Aguilar DB750 and used that D.I. direct into our DiGi Design rack module into ProTools with nothing yet just levels no mixing. The D.I. out my Aguilar sounds great for recording especially since it is basically a nice clean tube D.I. I will put up some sound clips as soon as I can for ear consumption.

Here is two examples of raw recordings with drums. First is my German Warwick Jazzman 5 String. Second is my new German LTD Corvette 5 string. Like I said a post or two ago there is no compression or editing just raw direct. These are meant for my guitar players to take home and play to etc...So first track is my Jazzman played with a pick and second track is fingers. So for the guys who say you should play with one or the other I do both. Anyway EQ settings same on both recordings and signal is MXR chorus through MXR M-80 just for the color button and then I used my Aguilar DB750 for the tube (pre-eq) D.I. through our racked DiGi ProTool set up. Little rough but you can hear the active pickups in the second clip the NT LTD Corvette is way more alive and clear IMO. I like em both..Let me know what you guys think. Thanks..
