Oddly enough, if I were to sell one now, it would most likely be the BH5, though that's probably due to the fact that it's not in the house right now, Mal having borrowed it. Five minutes in my hands and it would no doubt find its way back into the "Keeping" category.

Are both of those bases Skunk-Stripe necks? My Black JJ is Striper, SN 1689...I DO own a Router:ninja:

Hi Bart ... Acutally your BH is with Craig as I dropped it off earlier this week ... once I could actually get it out of my hands ... I'll have to giive him a shout andd see where he's at.

We're gigging in Portland tonight at The Green Room where we will be answering the musical question 'I Love Lesbians, So Why don't Lesbians Love Me ?' and other faves from the Crackertone song book.

This is a double bill with DR G and the Spots. We're opening but - it's a gig for the door. I'll be there around 8 - 8:30 for load in and if CW has the bass ready - that would be an option.

Glad you're liking yours, Tom. Now you've got me GAS-ing for a tube head and NV610 to run my Reverends into (though they do sound great just through the Brunetti).

Some day I should take the PG off my PJ/JJ convertable 'fish and snap a picture of the insides. I'm loving the way it's playing and sounding right now, though.

I also took the rounds off my 5L last night and put the TI flats back on. Don't get me wrong, it sounds great with rounds, but this bass was BORN to wear TI flats.

Eight basses really seems like wayyy too many for someone with no gigs right now, so once again, I had been considering turning loose one of my fish. Since the BH5 is such a great rare beast, and I'm keeping the PJ, I had been thinking once again :rolleyes: of selling the 5L. After putting the flats back on, I'm keeping it. No other bass has the tone of the 5L with flats. Wow. TONE. I should just give up and accept the fact that I'm a 'fish addict. Maybe I can part with a Sadowsky instead.

ya know if you'd kept that darned Bongo ... you'd still be up the creek as it would just be harder to decide which Reverend to sell and you'd end up keeping them all - and selling off a Sadowsky. The Sadowsky's are nice - they're beautiful, almost perfect. almost too perfect ... almost angelic 'fish seem to work almost in spite of themselves, like the sum of the imperfections is greater than anything that could be intentionally 'designed' ... and the sinners have much more fun - so Billy Joel told us who to take to the dance, eh ?

(and I'd be sittin' here trying to figure out how to turn an Orange Bongo into a White 'fish no doubt.)

That would be great. I've got to see if I can get "off duty," but I think I can probably do that. I'd love to get my hands again on the BH5 after Craig has worked on it. :hyper:

And yes that Bongo was wayyy fun. Thanks for reminding me. It really shook the place.

You've had dibs for a while.

Of course, the reason I wanted 4mal to borrow it was so he could run it by his local luthier, who does fretwork better than anyone else I've seen in a while. He just has the gift of making things play well. It's going to come back an even better bass than it already was. :D

I just picked up one of MaddAnthony's fish.... the black fish. I totally dig the bass... great overall sound.... effects seem to come alive with this bass... I even dig the slap tone (but wouldnt use it as a slap bass :smug:).

There is only one thing that makes me not absolutely love it....

IT'S MURDER ON YOUR FOREARM!!!!! :(

What do you cats do to get past this...?...
I either play my basses up high (5 & 6'ers) or at my gut...
Slinging it low just isn't for me.

A litte insight would be helpful.

I caught 4mal's band last night, and he played his orange 'fish and a Jazz with an Audere pre.

Don't get me wrong, Mal is good people, but after listening last night I have to question his sanity for putting that orange 'fish up for trade. It sounded fantastic; better than the Jazz, though the Jazz cut through slightly better (it seemed a little louder too, which would have helped).

Trade that orange 'fish for a Bongo? Man, that's just silly. :p

In related news, I still have lust for that orange fish. It looks great on stage; almost as funky as my BH5.

I was thinking of that too. :)
Seems like the easiest and most logical choice. Maybe my forearm will get used to it... but it's a good fallback.
It's not digging in... but it is bothersome... I can feel my forearm musle flexing on it when I move my fingers.... after a while it becomes rather painful. Wrist bands should give me the extra padding that I'm needing.

I never had that problem with a Reverend; the metal banjo thingy works fine for me.

I do know how much that kind of thing can drive you crazy though; one of the main reasons I sold my Tacoma was that I just couldn't play it for long without that sharp edge from the huge body digging into my forearm. I developed a nice bruise for a while from it.

Good luck getting comfy.
