Got the 755. (Pictures to follow soon).
J_funk Here's my report as promised:
Since this was my first 5 string I played it for awhile in the setup it arrived with - the typical B-G tuning. It wouldn't be too hard to get used to that and I can see the value in it right away. The low D and E are very useful and you can use the low notes on the B string for all sorts of little pick-up notes on songs where you're in first position on the E string. The extra low notes are powerful and can be used to add dynamics to a song. Plus you can grab a low G five frets further up the neck where you can actually add some harmony notes to it.
All that's good, but I still had to try it tuned E-C and those strings arrived in the mail today. I swapped them out and am really loving this setup. First of all, any notes you were playing high on the G string sound soooo much better on the C string. It's just a clearer voice. And of course lots of chord options are there - still learning those. The main thing is, I can keep a deep bass note going and also play some two note support up high from any position on the neck. That sort of thing is helpful when you play with just one guitarist and he switches from rhythm to a solo and all of a sudden the rhythm section is empty sounding.
I think I'm really gonna love this tuning and have no plans to change it back.
Oh, and so far I haven't replaced the nut. Right now the grooves in the nut are wider than they should be but I'm not hearing a problem...yet, anyway.
