you are using a clean boost to overdrive the preamp section of the V4B. The Saturn will overdrive on its own
might work better then so I can dial back my gain on the amp. The only downside of having my gain at the edge of break with my Jazz Bass is when I hook up my active bass, it’s distorted, which isn’t what I want. So maybe this will be better!
look - the gain you are getting from the dimed V4B plus Atlas is going to be very tasty and likely hard to emulate perfectly with a pedal. But the Saturn does have some of the best breakup I have ever heard and it could be right down your alley. And yeah it’s always easier and more flexible to get your drive from a pedal over an amp.
My Saturn VI arrived today. LOVE it. I like that I can get more natural sounding gain, without having to fiddle with my amp to edge of breakup. Gonna keep this and list my Atlas III.
So glad I found out about these pedals! They are all top notch.
How's the Aphelion on bass?
First in line or with a buffer Buster it’s really great. But probably not as great as the Apollo with it’s no clipping mode

like Saturn V and VI? Sputnik II and III? Usually the higher number is newer reissue only some new format with some new features. Like the Saturn added a tone knob and the Sputnik moved the drift switch to a footswitch.
Precisely...so there are differences between the II and the III or IV...are there any specific older versions that hold magic that newer releases dont? Kinda like Saturn is amazing but the III steals the show over the others?
And watch out - it’s worse than peri-peri
I like the Saturn V more than the VI but the Mercury IV more than III.
Got my first ever Spaceman pedal today.
It's actually nothing like I expected and that's a good thing. From the guitar demos online, I got the impression that the Saturn VI might be a little "spikey" in the high frequency content of the drive aspect.
It's actually nothing like that and everything I wanted out of a boost pedal. It makes me want to put my Hudson Broadcast AP and Wren & Cuff Phat Phuk up for sale. Not because they aren't equally fantastic, but because the Saturn VI can give me that super low gain overdrive and give a subtle sparkle to my tone that the other two just don't do.

It must be a Saturn VI kind of day. I put my Nebula back on the board, in anticipation of the Saturn VI’s scheduled arrival on Monday. (I wanted the Saturn to feel at home). But the postman brought it today.
Pretty sweet on its own, for the reasons mentioned above. Equally tasty stacked, after the LDP boost, before the Carcosa, just for starters. (Haven’t played with the Carcosa in a while, it covers an amazing range, sweet fuzz)

Hey all! So, I've got a trade offer in the works and was curious about thoughts on the Mercury IV with guitar. I know, I know! It's a bass forum, but I will be using it on guitar. I have a Harmonic Perc clone and I'm debating it. I was offered two of them and they are both super limited ones too (chrome second run of 33 and mint silver). Does anyone have any thoughts on it versus other harmonic pers? It sounds amazing.
Um.......... jeepers, the Sputnik III is all that and more. So many initial impressions. The tone control is like some sort of demented tilt EQ. I can’t yet define what’s really happening but it’s very interesting. Least active at noon, There is a notable goose at either hard CW or CCW. The tone boosted introduces fuzz, even when gain is all the way down.
Speaking of gain all the way down, the most amazing thing about the Sputnik, is that it has its own bongo player nestled inside. Every note I play is doubled by the bongos, getting sucker punched. It’s quite remarkable. As you turn up the gain it starts to drown out the bongos, but the percussive attack is unique in my experience.
@Mosfed described the Sputnik as maintaining its clarity and definition throughout its entire gain range. This is my impression as well. Low chords still sound like chords, unlike many fuzzes I love, that can get mushy harmonically.
I only spent about 30 minutes before dinner, but I discovered many fruitful, varied interactions between the gain, tone, and tone toggle switch. It is such a surprise to plug in something as ubiquitous as a fuzz pedal, and find so many truly new tones. And then, 5 minutes before dinner, I hit Drift. See ya later.
Tha Sputnik III is immediately placed in the company of my Gnomeratron and Jext Telez DizzyTone, for its tones and feature set. I feel like I’ve just scratched the surface, but I’m at a loss for words.
Edit: Sputnik III, in full out, raging fuzz, still has the dynamic range to trigger an envelope filter like no other fuzz IME.
I’m finding tone CW boosts the mids, and CCW boosts a scooped smile EQ. The toggle shifts the frequency.

You are correct sir. I believe it was the first or second year of the auction fundraiser. I finally made the effort to do a little more research, label the controls, and get a firm grip on functionality. I always found cool sounds, but never knew how or why. It’s easier to find your way when you have a roadmap. Blending in the dry is new and cool as well.
My wife and I are very choosy about our charitable donations. You made it very easy. Even in the absence of a pedal auction, it’s become a habit, a November ritual.
