The Squier Mini Precision Bass Club

Been modding my Mini since I got it. Decided to swap in a carbon fiber plate pickguard, replaced the pickup, pots and wiring from a CV 60's PBass, also got the bridge from the same CV. Going to color the neck vintage amber, put a CV-style water slide on it, and put in a walnut insert at the truss rod. This will be a Mini CV 60's PBass when I'm done with it. :)

Did you make the pickguard yourself?

That looks very nice!

Mine's red, so I'm thinking white pearloid. If/when I find one: I don't trust myself to do it properly, nor do I have the proper tools.

I may go the wrap route.

Contact Precision Guitar. I was the first to request a sbmm stingray ss white pearloid pkgrd so I had to send him in my og pkgrd. He’s done two different pkgrds for me and I highly recommend them. Precision Guitar

That's the thing. I'd hafta ship it, or a tracing, to USA, and hope. No thank you.

If there were someone in Germany, and I'm sure there is, I would consider it. It's not a priority, though. I like it fine as is, and can wait on a fancy-shmancy pickguard.

what's the string spacing at the 12th and at the bridge? you could be helping push me over the edge :D
Keep in mind that the caliper is upside down, and I'm measuring edge to edge. I added about 1mm for center to center.

At the 12th fret, ~12.5mm:

At the bridge, ~18mm:

O.o You know you want one. At this price it's hard to go wrong.

Does anyone own both the mini P-bass and the Bronco? How do they compare? I want to pick one up this month. I was thinking of the Bronco (or perhaps even the Squire Mustang).

I own the Mini. I used to own a Bronco many years ago but not any longer.

Everyone will weight various things differently but overall I consider the Mini to be a better build. Specifically for me I would call the pickup, tuners, and especially bridge significantly better.

Note they do not have identical scale. Bronco is 30” and Mini is 28.6.

I own both and play both--I changed the pickups in both, but the Squier Mini didn't really need it (I had an extra VMod so why not?), whereas I felt the stock Bronco pickup was pretty weak (mine is a bit older, so maybe it's different now). But I enjoy them each!

I jazzed mine up a little. The look isn't for everyone!
