Hello! I just purchased a Squier Mini P Bass to get back into playing (it's been years) and I was just wondering if the truss rod is supposed to be this visible from the top opening? I feel like I've always seen them more inward and less visible on Fenders and Squiers. Any tips? Thanks.

Yes, that's fine. Every make and model is a little different. As long as you can easily adjust it in either direction, you're good. There should be some resistance, but you shouldn't need to Hulk out to make it move.
So, I just picked my my Mini P after a long time away from it.
I had been exclusively playing a 23" scale Cordoba.
Wow - it sounds so awesome at this point. I think it is a combination of my ears hearing the P tone again, along with the halfs on it aging - which I love. [I'm not a Seinfeld tone guy.]
The bass sounds so Fat and beautiful. And the way I dressed that neck now feels extraordinary.
It's fun to rediscover an old bass. [It's also far more cost effective than new GAS.]
I have to post a fresh pic. I changed a few things: cosmo black mini tuners, cosmo black bridge, small plastic black knobs, gorgeous pearloid pickguard, and a small wood thumb rest. Oh yeah.

Bass seems fine. Looks like the box took a few dangerous shortcuts on the way over here. I am still sort of looking it over, but so far it seems cool. Whew!

Yep little sanding and krylon glitter paint with ceramic triple thick clear… kiddo puts her own stickers on it so not logo needed

I am, but I'm not convinced, the result isn't the old school tone I wanted. Quite too bassy for my taste. I'm going to try 500k pot to see.
I think the EMG Geezer is a perfect pickup to balance out the tubbier sound of the Mini P with flats. It has a nice upper midrange character that I haven't heard in other pickups, but still retains a thick low end.
Were I note so happy with it, I would try a Wilde P46.
