We can definitely do that for you, every pickguard is hand-made so we would just need you to go through some steps for your pickguard to be made. You will just need to specify exactly what you want on your custom order form. Custom pickguards range from $40 - $150 and is dependent on Make/Model/Material. Since you’re wanting #28(White Pearl), it will most likely be in the mid to high price range of that spectrum.

Due to variations in pickguard models by the manufacturer, a paper tracing OR your actual pickguard will be required to give you a quote on your custom guard. Which means I'm out. I'm churchmouse poor. I'm not going to pay €60-€120 (roughly) for a pickguard.

regarding the price of the pickguards, it takes my husband over an hour to 2 hours to make a neat, clean pickguard and $20 for pickguard material. to get paid the same per hour as he gets at work, he'd have to charge $84 to $116 per pickguard. to do a rush job that might have a couple minor imperfections in the shape, he'd have to charge $66 before shipping.

Yeah, people really underestimate the skill and work that goes into making a pickguard well and how time = money. Good product at a fair wage means a “high” price.

I paid almost $100 for the custom pickguard for my Dingwall Super P5.

I think I'd have to charge $200+ for this carbon fiber one I made. It takes about four times as long to cut and shape by hand compared to plastic.

Oh, I understand this just fine. I didn't mean to imply that I thought €60-€120 was too much for a custom PG. It isn't. I just can't afford that much easilly.

@68Tele-Bass, that is exactly the route I'm researching now. The Rvinyl "white sparkle" looks nice, and is certainly in the running.

I wasn't disputing the labour factor for skilled work and such, and I could prob'ly afford the price.

For me, it's the question of spending that much for a cosmetic element of a budget instrument.

I'd rather upgrade to a better pickup, for example.

If it was for a Dingwall or another higher priced brand or model, that much money for a pickguard would not feel as unbalanced.

My Ric might qualify in that regard.

The only way that a person MIGHT get a better deal is IF such a high grade of product was available from a country where labour costs were less, and just making that comparison could easily open a whole 'nother can of worms.

There is a PG cutter in UK who does 2 different versions* of Harley Benton PB-50 pickguards, another niche market. 4 if you count "no screw holes" versions.

* For Roswell PU or Wilkinson PU

Once he got the pattern, he was able to offer prices of under €30. This is what I had in my head when I got the quote of €60-€120.

does he use a programmed CNC machine? my husband does CNC programming, but his machine uses a sort of crappy program to control it, so he cuts his manually, then does the fine tuning and beveling completly by hand.
