The Squier Mini Precision Bass Club

I finished my Mini P. Just had the nut replaced with a Graphtech nut and added my custom neck plate..Its all set up and complete and it plays and sounds so good :thumbsup: I ended up using D'Adarrio Pro-steel SS 45-100 on it..I like them.

That turned out great. I listened to some videos and ordered a set of those pickups. I like how clean they sounded. I also ordered a wiring harness from these cats: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

It’s going to take a month for the pickups to get here, according to the website. I’m going to have my guy cut a pickguard for me. He’s does great work. Where did you get the glow in the dark side dots? That might be a fun project to add to my guitar tech chops. :)

Thanks for the kind comments all! Tony, I got the Luminlay side dot material from here:

Luminlay Standard SB & SG series

Make sure you order the 2mm size . The company is in Japan but the product will ship from a distributor here in the states so it only takes a week or under. I live here in Vegas also and I want to say I got mine in a few days cause it shipped from California.

Thanks for the link. I ordered the glowy knobs in Cosmo Black. I got the green color. :thumbsup:

We will have to try to meet up sometime. I know a few other bass cats in town.

Well I just joined the club this morning!

I'm impressed. I paid the equivalent of 145 Euros. Overall quality is very good. For the price it's incredible. It arrived out of tune and the intonation was totally out of whack. No biggie.

The good:
  • It sounds like a P: powerful, loud, bright and growly.
  • I was able to set it up very easily. Everything works and intonates well.
  • String spacing is spot on, no need to yank on the neck.
  • The knobs work gradually and turn nicely. Useful throughout the whole sweep. Not crooked.
  • Totally silent. No need to shield it.
  • It feels very solid, not a toy.
  • The paint job is spotless.

The not so good:
  • It only weights 2.8kg so there's some neck dive. Maybe a heavier bridge would solve this?
  • The back of the neck feels a bit rough. I suppose linseed oil would improve it but I've never done anything like that. I guess it's a project bass.
  • There is a bit of finish on the fretboard at the 5th fret. No big deal, I'll remove it with a blade.
  • The tuners turn really easily but the ratio is a bit low. No need to replace them.
  • The screws are very soft and some are drilled crooked.
Compared to my other bass, a factory second Harley benton J bass knockoff that cost 80 Euros, this sounds so much better.

Give me a week to play around with it and then I'll put on some Chromes and oil the fretboard, dress the frets etc.
I'm open to suggestions for the bridge - I only need to make the body heavier, it's fine as it is

Congrats. Sure you don't just need another strap? I have 2, and neither have any neck dive.

I noted some of the things you noted. The back of the neck Does feel just a tad rough - but nothing that can't be tweaked. And, yeah, these basses are absatively quiet. No noise whatsoever.

the neck on mine felt slighly rough and unfinished, but my husband polished it with a jewelry polishing pad, and now it feels like a smooth polished (not gloss) neck. btw, one of my mikros was the same, and it polished up nicely, too.

i had to tighten the screws on the tuners - they were pretty loose when it first arrived.

did you want a club number?
