Very nice! Are those the black chrome Gotoh res-o-light tuners?
They are Gotoh's, and they dropped in perfectly, but they are - GB707 Compact tuners, in *cosmo black*.
Reading these threads really makes me appreciate pickguards. I now realize how stunningly beautiful the red tortoise pick guard was on my first bass, a 67 Fender Mustang Bass in Olympic white. Yet another reason I wish I still had that bass. When I was young, really did not know what I had. I also did not have a community of bass players like BT who could open my eyes as to what is wonderous about a bass

The new pickguard fit well. 
I had to enlarge the holes for the pots and jack, because I'm using full size. Should have went with minis. Rookie mistake. They fit, but it was tight. Ops check failed 
, and inspection revealed a broken ground that I will attend to tomorrow. I will have to remove a little material from the pickguard neck pocket. (picture north) I like the Pearl Gray. It goes with the Cosmo Black bridge and knobs. I'm pleased with the pickguard, not so pleased with my soldering. 
But, that's how you learn. 
I think that black pickguard screws would look good.

Just installed pickguard #2. Fit as well. Yay.
Also, I wrote to Precision Pickguard and offered to donate a stock pickguard to the effort. He has a Mini template now, but if having a stock pickguard to keep and compare to the template is helpful, it's his.

He sent my stock PG back to me. I'd have been ok with him keeping it, but I guess he didn't need to.

Weird issue. With the PG off, the PU's function when I tap on them. When I put the PG on and tighten it down. I get no response from the PU's, but it does make noise when I remove the jack.

I'm sorry to hear. If you have steady hands, good eyes, and basic soldering ability, and a wiring diagram, I'm sure you can solve it yourself. If not, like me
, find a good tech you can trust, and I'm sure that tech will cure it easily. It Is possible the stock wiring on our baby is fragile. I Have had many guitars apart before, so I'm not a rookie to all this, and when I first removed a pickguard after buying #1, I broke the wiring, and I was being very careful.

The pots might be touching the sides of the control cavity..Happened to me before with an old bass with the cavity shielded...not sure if thats the issue for you though.
Interesting. I did shield the cavity with copper tape, but if anything would be touching, it would be the circuit board. Further investigation is called for.
Also want to give some other kudos to our pal at Precision Guitar - for shielding a portion of the back of the pickguard. He did a great job.
I don't know why he wouldn't. Maybe he just forgot to refresh his Reverb ad. Message him.
I think that might vary. My wiring/solder joints appeared robust when I had it open. Rosin spatters told me mine was hand soldered. I think mine was an early run. If all the harnesses are hand soldered, there could be a wide range of fragile to robust harnesses out there.
That being said, I think the most likely cause of @G19Tony's issue is, indeed, a short circuit. Since the pickup is responsive when the pickguard is loose, it's not a broken joint. Something is causing a ground short when it's tightened, most likely a bare portion of a "hot" lead to the shielding ground.
It's a P Bass circuit. There's not many culprits to examine.
