Thanks - did you just email the 5106? Are they online? Just morbidly curious.

They're on-line. It's a fillable PDF, "CBP Form 5106_0.pdf". I don't have the URL handy. I did save the file, but TB doesn't let me post arbitrary attachments. I recall it was a little tricky to find, but above all that it could only be filled out with Adobe Acrobat 8.0 or better. Your browser may know how to view PDFs, but it won't let you fill out the form.

In my case, I filled it out, "signed" it, and sent it to the person at FedEx who was working on my shipment.

I suspect that the best thing to do would be to fill it out in advance and send a copy to Status in advance of shipment.

I've had 3 Status basses built and shipped to the US, the most recent being delivered this January. Their payment system is archaic, but it works, and Rob and Dawn are legit. The good news is that you get to pay the "no VAT" price. The bad news is that you will owe a US import duty - though that's usually less than the VAT would be. My first two purchases went very simply and smoothly - I ordered, I paid a deposit, they finished the bass, I paid the rest, it was delivered, and FedEx sent ma a bill for the import duty. No other forms to fill out. But for the most recent purchase, FedEx had it held up by customs until I provided a form 5106. According to the guy at FedEx, it's semi-random how often they insist on it.

My experience was similar, kinda, with an interesting little wrinkle.

In February 2020 I bought an in stock Streamline 5 and paid Status (via the archaic payment system) the bass was shipped overnight via FedEx. It arrived at the Indianapolis FedEx the next day. Then I started receiving daily delivery notices and updated delivery dates during the next week+, while I was calling daily to determine status on the shipment to find out why it wasn't delivered on time, according to their delivery date notifications.

We finally found out that it was held up by Fishery and Games for a week and a half because it was declared as a graphite "bass" guitar, (ie - bass fish) no lie!? They were trying to determine if it was a "fish" ?

Dawn said she had never experienced this before… I recommended that they change their paperwork to just describe the instrument as a "graphite guitar" on the shipping info and drop the potentially misguiding fish terminology

The bass finally arrived at my door almost 2 weeks after it arrived in the US.

About another 2 weeks later, I received a tax bill from FedEx for $127 on an instrument that cost approximately $2600. No other paperwork or forms were sent to me.

At least Status stopped using UPS. The UPS brokerage fees are the worst I've experienced.

To those who ordered recently, did you not have to submit the TSCA forms before FedEx would release shipment? I thought it awfully silly but apparently "polyurethane" flagged as a potentially toxic substance on my order...

The last few postings have been priceless. Back in January, when I was corresponding with Dawn about this, she said:

"…Some shipments go through seamlessly whilst others are stopped with all sorts of form filling required to do with toxic substances, fisheries etc etc?!"

Wow, things are pretty simple getting a Status into Canada. No forms to fill out, just pay the brokerage fee and get your bass.

I know this is probably in the wrong place, sorry about that. My question is for anyone who lives in the state of New Jersey who owns a Status Bass. Ideally everyone would like to send their prized Status Bass back to Rob to fix or repair. But in the event that you couldn't, have you ever sent your bass in to be repaired at a shop within the state of New Jersey, and if so, where did you send it? Were you satisfied with the outcome? Just want to have the information at hand incase I ever need it. Thanks for all your help. Everyone stay safe out there.

This has been up on the Status website for a couple weeks now; wonder what's cookin' in terms of new ideas !

Rob teased the return of the Barracuda bass (which I've heard is a beast of an instrument) quite a while ago but nothing came of it.

Series-4, maybe?

They also added a second CNC machine to the shop per some recent Instagram posts. All told things seem going quite well for Status Graphite at the moment.

As I understand it, all of their stuff is built or assembled to order, from basses to necks to circuits and pickups.

People jump between brands sometimes. I believe he also stepped away from Ashdown amps and is using TC Electronic stuff now?

I'd LOVE to see them in San Francisco, again like they were in 2010. That was 3 weeks before or after the RUSH concert, too, so 2010 was the BEST year for me to see my two favorite bands live. Just like Mark using the Jaydee is like Geddy playing the Ric 4001 on the '92 Roll the Bones tour.
