I was going to try to keep this a secret, but I suck at secrets.i agree. it makes me wish that i would have waited to order one for the January batch.
The X refers to the fact that it has a 12AX7 tube in it. I started using that back in the day (about a year ago) when most of the pedals I built used 6N21B miniature tubes. Now that everything I build uses full size 12AX7 (or 12AU7, 12AT7) tubes I don't always use the "X" when I talk about them, but it still comes out every now and then, I'm inconsistentForgive me, but what does the "X" designate?
so the handwired board would fit in my order? i ordered it last month.I was going to try to keep this a secret, but I suck at secrets.
The reason the handwired Dr. Wattson layout wasn't very fun was that I was forcing it into the same form factor as the current Dr. Wattson X. So if you bought a Dr. Wattson any time after July 2021, the handwired board would be a drop-in replacement.
Unfortunately when I re-did all the designs in July I changed the layout from where it was before, so if you got a DWX before July 2021 then the spacing is different and the holes would not line up.

This would be a great "upgrade" option.
I'm willing to wait a bit!
Yup, if you can send me a nice high resolution picture of the circuit board I can tell you if it has the mod.@Sushi Box FX - Do you know how to verify if a London Underground has the PA mod?

Well I mean if you're in the January batch it hasn't been built yet, I'm still waiting on one more parts order to get started. My intention was that if you already have a Dr. Wattson you could pay extra to get the board swapped out. I don't know when I will have these boards verified and ready to release, so if you would prefer to wait until it's ready I can hold off on your build, or I could build it as planned in January and you can get the upgrade later when the boards have been verified and ready to go (most likely March or April).
I marked you down to hold off for the handwired, but it's too late for me to give up slots as I've already ordered parts for January. Also since they're drop-in replaceable I can still go ahead and work on your enclosure now so I have it ready to go when boards are done, as enclosures take more time anyway.I'm good with that (hold until hand-wired boards are verified/ready-to-go). I'll pm you as well.
That way there's one more January build spot for someone.

Still waiting on parts to finish up the handwired UA and Finally, but got the Slampegg wired up last night. Sounds freaking incredible, now I want to try a 5751 in it.
I'm using a Voodoo Labs Pedal Power Iso 5.
I'm using the 12V spot, rated at a max of 400mA.
You can use a 9V or 12V, as long as it's Max rating is enough to run the SH after warmup, which is 250mA.
