The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

I do have an Underground Accelerator that I'll be comparing the Bass Dude to, just because I have them both and think they are loosely based on each other.

What are the differences between them?
UA uses a Fender Tone Stack, but what about Bass Dude? Are the Bass/Treble boost/cut or boost only? Where is "flat"?

Undecided. My work on the headphone amp I used at NAMM made me realize I want to use a different output transformer than I originally planned. The hi-fi transformers I used there have a much better bass response than the guitar transformer I used in the original Firebox prototype.

It's amazing just how much the output transformer can affect the low end. I used to have some really cheap radio shack 1:1 transformers that I used for a fuzz/synth type pedal and they really made a difference in the low end.

Excited to see how this one turns out.

I would like to give a big shout out to @davelowell2 for offering his skills to assemble my Nobelium! I am a machinist and also built my own home and thought “hey, I can build my own pedal”…after receiving some of the components I quickly realized that I was way out of my element. Luckily davelowell2 posted he could help those like me and I jumped on the offer. He was great to work with and it was a very fast turnaround time. Highly recommend if anyone else is in the same boat I was in…

I run SB More > LBA 2020S > LBA 2020S near the end of on my signal chain on my primary board. And while the LBA's are subtle, they do provide some upper mid saturation when driven by the More. However, it only became discernable when I stacked two in series.

Since the 23Fe's were announced I've been considering picking a couple up to see how they compare to the 2020S's... The idea that they are less transparent and should impart more character, particularly when driven certainly piques my interest... I've just been having difficulty justifying it despite a fair bit of cognitive gymnastics.

And yet, justification be damned... I want to see for myself if there really is a significant difference, so I just ordered the last two available on the LBA website.

Here's hoping they truly live up to the hype.

Nobelium and UA users... What's the diff ? If I have it ... both are based on the Fender / RCA tone stack. The Showman variant has passive mids. In that variant, 2-10-2 was approximate flat. The UA has way more low end on tap - a good thing in my book. So What does the Nobelium bring to the table ?
