Allright, so I spent the last weekend picking up the V8 and cab as well as visiting some friends in Marburg(which is beautiful but also very isolated. Still has the most bars per square kilometers in Germany though).

The V8 is now at the doctor's. The description in the auction was accurate but it seems that this amp did fall on its face at least once :( . The bass and master level knobs are working but are sticking in one spot, the on/off switch is halfway broken though still functional and there's a dent in the front covering. Good news is that it is still in working order and the damage is only cosmetic and all the tubes are fine :hyper: So now I'm getting the pots and on/off switch replaced and by next week it should be as good as new.

Next up: I'll actually get to play it(didn't have any replacement fuses handy) and I will need to find a new cab for it. Anyone got any recommendations?

Congratulations!

What kind of tone are you seeking and how loud do you want/need to get?

I don't have any Trace Elliot gear now (have Sansamp RBI/power amp/other rack stuff), but I had a 130w 15" combo (can't remember the model) in 1993-1994, and although it wasn't very loud, the tone was great and I would defnitely consider Trace Elliot gear again

Tone-wise I want something that excels in the low mids. Cabs with too much natural scoop in them would be no-no for me.
Volume wise I would like to fill out a small to medium room without PA support(a 4x10 does that in my experience) but the cab will need to take all that the V8 can dish out(which is plenty).

Hi! My first post ever. Hope you like it.

Musikhaus Thomann has 4 ohm versions of the Gallien-Krueger 410SBX (sealed cab with tweeter) in stock.

Edit: Here's a link:

Sounds like a Schroeder 410 to me.

Another good match would probably be the Bergantino NV610.

I'm sure you'll get some more good suggestions here.

You know, I hear lots about Schroeder and Bergantino(and it sounds like both are amazing) but I'm having a real problem finding a place where I can get or even try them here in Germany. The 6x10 is an intriguing option but how does it hold up weight-wise? Also, size is somewhat of an issue for me, I could barely fit the 2x15 in my car and for gigs more than just my rig needs to fit in there.

Since your in Germany, go local, try Tech Soundsystems, I played one of their rigs and it just blew me away. The weights are so low they defy the laws of physics and I think any of their cabs would do it justice. Also, Glockenklang are another highly rated German company but I'd recommend Tech over them just for the weight, the fact they look cool and that most importantly, the Tech rig was the best I ever played. Maybe a 1x15 mini and a 2x12 would go well with the V8 in a limited space situation. I've heard the 6x12 is an awesome cab on it's own but bearing in mind the size it's probably not for you. Part of the rig I played when in Germany was a 2x12 and it was very good indeed. The 4x12 is definatley worth thinking about if you have space.

You might want to talk to Jorg or Brian, I know the Schroeders are available there, but I don't know if they have a local dealer (I see one is listed in Italy).

If size and portability is an issue, you might try two of the Tech Soundsystems ND 210 S.

Bag End or Bergantino would fit. A Schroeder 1212 would nail the low mids thing as would an Eden XLT.

Any decent cab should sound really good :)
I can only speak for the Bag Ends. These handle the low-mids exceptionally well, and are very musical sounding. They are also surprisingly full range for 15's. The coax tweeter is amazing, it really brings out the shimmering smooth high.

Bag Ends & a Trace Elliot amp is quite a sweet combination. I could only imagine how amazing it would sound w/ a V8. :D
