Isn't Sadowsky a Polish name? There has to be a good joke in here somewhere: "It's for sale but you have to pick it up; they can't ship it" I dunnno.




I think KJung make some very good points that undeniably and intuitively make good sense.

I don't gig out any more and when I did which was about 6x per month, 1/2 the places had a house bass cab and house PA so I only would bring my heavy as heck rack (Kern pre, Crown K2, Furman tuner). Only 1/2 the time did I bring my cab. And I'm far stronger than the average person, have my own transportation, and am insane.

If I was average size and shape, then I could really see teh attractiveness of a lighter rig. Even now, as I get older at 44-1/2 years old, products such a good soundingn, light Markbass head that fits in my ski backpack certainly would be an attractive product.

But jes' louise am I fortunate to have the SA200 and SA410. They sound so good. And if I do start gigging again, no doubt I'd load them up.

Does anyone know if the SA200 with the Sadowsky 2x10 cab is powerful enough to keep up with a loud horn band? Or would the 4x10 be worth dealing with the extra weight? I would always have PA support.

I think the answer from any respectible TBer would be one or two of each, but I'm trying to be a little more responsible these days. ;) So, I think one would be enough...but, which one?

I'd bring more than a 2x10 for a loud gig. For them I use 1000W SS into 3 Bergs. A HT115, a HT310 and a HT112

Well, the SA200 into a single SA210 is not all that loud, but then again, this is coming from the guy who prefers to run two SA410's! :bassist:

To be honest, though, you might have better luck (more volume) with an HS210 or maybe the new AE210. The HS210 is probably the loudest (full-range) 2x10 I have heard.

I have used 2x10's in the past for loud cover gigs. We traveled with our own sound company and they did a bang up job of balancing the monitors. The other guys in the band were considerate of volume, but with a 9 peice band, the volume got up there. Nobody was a 'sneaky volume creeper' or a 'sonic space burglar' so to speak. So it worked out nicely. And the 210 was ample for monitoring purposes if I raised it, and angled it toward me.

I guess I shouldn't say 'loud,' maybe 'busy mix' is a better description. I really don't want to lug around a 410, though worse things have happened. Maybe 2 2x10 cabs would be a nice compomise. I have an HT322 that kills in the tone department, but it also kills in the back department. I was born in 1978, so I'm part of the lightweight whinny generation who thinks that an 85lb cab is utter madness. ;)

For what it's worth, I use a db 359 and an hs 210 to push a 12-piece r&b band, with three horns, 2 guitars and a hammond organ. Of course we work hard to keep volume levels down. Usually vocal monitors are the loudest thing on stage. You can see the set up here, though this was before the berg cab arrived... http://youtube.com/watch?v=TkJrnI_sVcI
You really don't need to be super loud. Just play with quiet intensity.

some thoughts,

you want pounding? a little 2x10 wont do it, NOR will *two*. i love my hs210. its simply fantastic w/ my sa200. wanted to go modular and thought, why not two of 'em? no dice. just didnt feel as punchy nor as gutting as my single sadowsky sa410. and for one band where there's a 60 watt super reverb and a hellacious 30 watt ac30, a single sa410 is actually plenty loud. barely cracking over noon when everyone's kicking out the jams.

truth be told, tho, i have yet to find a 4x10 cab that sounds nearly as good w/ the sa200 as the sa410. some felt as thick, but none really had that punch. but from what a few dealers have been telling me, seems like the new berg hs410 is pretty darn close.

Man, this morning, I was innocently asking about a 2x10 cab, and now, 9 hours later I'm considering picking up an NV215 AND an NV610. What's going on here? Did you guys put something in my Kool-Aid? Haha. J/K. Well....kinda....

Maybe the new neo Berg cabs would be a good option? I know they are brand new, but has anyone tried the neo 4x10 with an all-tube head? I may have to stop by Bass Specialties to check them out.

i gotta be honest,

tried my sa200 w/ the nv610, and it was just too dark. also, didnt have nearly the punch of the sa410. the nv610 was plenty thick and meaty, but little in terms of palatable punch, which left me a little "blah". the nv sounds wayy better with something like the db750 cranking into it.

but yea, i too am really piqued by the lower middy voicing of the ae series that glenn's been telling me about, too.

You beat me to it, Nicky! I'm in the exact same situation at the moment - on the one hand, I want something lighter, more manageable and a nicer match than the 410XLT I use to go under the SA200, on the other hand I'm stopping myself on a daily basis from going the NV215 route...

The AE seems like a happy medium, but I haven't read any valve amp specifc feedback in the other threads yet. Rear ported, punchy low mids, nice top to bottom clarity... Sounds good... Can anyone fill us in?

So far, my favorite cabs with the SA200 are two SA410's. That just kills! After that, it's probably a tie between the SA210/SA410 and the NV215. The NV610 does sound very good, but you do miss some of the glassy high end (which, of course, you may not be after). The HS410 and HS210 also sound great, but I guess I am so used to the slightly more mid-punchy SA cabs, that I do somewhat prefer them with the SA200, though I would be very happy gigging with the HS cabs and the SA200.

I'm hoping to have the chance to try out the AE cabs with the SA200 fairly soon. :D
