The Un-Official Sadowsky SA200 Thread...

Bump for an oldie but a goodie.

I just picked up an SA200. It has a preamp tube on its way out (crackling, microphonic) so I'm replacing all three. And I must report that Roger and company have been very gracious and helpful with my questions; certainly these are the kinds of folks that you want to buy gear from.

My question -- and I think that I've read every single SA200 thread out there -- is this (in two parts): Has anybody replaced the 6N1P "phase inverter" preamp tube with the more-commonly-available 6922, or used any NOS tubes anywhere in the preamp section?

I was messing around in the Internet doing a Google search on the SA200, and came across two versions. One with two toroidal transformers and one with one of each. Just curious if both were released, and if there's been two versions. (I've got serious GAS regarding ordering one of the reissues...)

I believe the top picture is the reissue, and the bottom picture is the original. At least, my original run SA200 looks like the bottom picture (with two toroidal transformers).

This is why the new one is a couple pounds lighter than the original.

I'm wondering, isn't the new one for europe(uk and some others) only right now? If so, I believe it runs on 230V 50hz. Would that affect the transformer design?
I'm on the list for the new one which they are not taking pre orders yet. Price $2995

My main head since 2008.. I got this one when I was in Japan -- That's why the knobs are different.

Not an easy one to bring on the stage every time, it's 42 ponds! I feel like putting this in the rack, I found the rack mount ears lost when I moved

Anyway, this is the best bass amp head I've ever played!!

Things do happen for a reason. I relinquished this beauty last summer to a deserving and appreciative young man, but it found it's way back to me in a complicated set of circumstances. After making the pilgrimage to Roger Sadowsky's shop for another purchase, he gladly gave it a quick adjustment and autograph. Now it's coming back "home" to stay.
