Thunderbird Club

The usual line up for Thunderbird Thursday…

Both strung right-handed. :) Having a actual upper horn would be an improvement but otherwise it wouldn't work for me because I play (right hand) close to the bridge and would keep interfacing with the control knobs. I already bump into my '64II knobs mid-song occasionally where they are positioned. It's why I move control knobs away from that area on a T-bird shaped object.

...speaking of which - happy T-bird shaped object Thursday :bassist:

So that's what we're doing this Thursday, is it?

Alright, I'll see your eight, and I'll........hmmm, it would seem I only have seven :(

You've got me beat by one (well, one & a half, really) :meh:

Guess I'll have to find two more TSO's to get ahead by half

From left to right, I choose all!! :roflmao:

Kidding: 2,3, 4 and 5
You sir, have good taste.
Actually from a playing standpoint, my order of most favorite to least would be…
Bass #2 - white 1990 Greco IV, just a rock monster!
Bass #3 - burst 1977 Greco II, an absolute Jazz and Blues monster
Bass #1 - black Goth with a cap job, massive sound and over wound pups with EBCF strings, pure high gain bliss
Bass #6 - BlingBird, Swiss Army knife of tone options, needs top notch pups (Chinabuckers were just for proof of concept)
Bass #5 - 2013 Gibson Golden anniversary bird, creamy smooth and best feeling of the bunch
Bass #7 - first run Ebony VP, solid player, does everything very well
Bass #8 - Ebony BaCH NR II, nice all around player in need of a better pup and strings, chrome flats aren’t doing it any favors
Bass #4 - 2015 Gibson burst, a quirky enigma that sounds phenomenal in some settings and just so so in others

not shown…
Spector Rex5 Pro - rock demon, not as versatile as most of the others above (place between #8 and #4)
Stock Goth with nickel round wounds - nice, would be better with EBCFs or similar strings (place after #4)
FrankenGoth with Black Tapes, Aggie preamp, coil switch, Bart pups - super clean sound (place ahead of the stock Goth)

I can’t make it to the west Coast GTG at Chuckys, but I can send up a couple of the basses for others to try if interested. If anyone wants to try these speak up now and I’ll try to make them available.
