Thunderbird Club

I think I'm finally going to break down & "refinish" my junk-bass, hence the sander.

My painting skills are :poop: , so it may turn out questionable, but should at least be a fun time :)
I bought a gig bag for an Explorer(?) from Dean for my 67 NR. Only one big enuff.

Tried one of those Dean Explorers last year in a used instruments shop. I think it had a different pickup than yours though.

Mine's a beat-up wreck that should really have a new neck - but it plays okay-ish, and sounds straight out of 1986, through my old Peavey at least.

It's great for trying out new repairs/mods that I've never done before, or need practice with, so there's less chance I'll screw up a nice bass :)

It's a delicate conversation up front from my recent experience. There are tons of scammers that reach out to CL sellers so you will probably be lumped into that group on initial contact. I recommend proper grammar and not just one liners like "Would you ship it". I went thru this earlier in the year with a seller in Oregon, but he ended up doing the deal.

This one has been for sale for about 6 weeks and he has lowered the price $300 since first posting it. If you don't mind the wear, see if he is willing to deal. If he says he doesn't have a box large enough to ship, tell him you have a friend in South Gilbert that has boxes that will fit a Thunderbird. I would be happy to donate a box to the cause or help in other ways if needed.

as always, interesting insight Andy…..begs the question, why CLs in particular?….

I can see that - they're quite a bit longer than a reverse T-bird.....

yep, beautiful beaches….surfers refer to it as “The Nards”…
They weren't blessed with the good name. There's Camarillo where I grew up in the late 70s, and Ventura...and then Oxnard. Of course in the 70s "nard" was a pretty common euphemism for testacles.

Oooh I really like this one….

Here’s my top 5 picks for the day…

A Studio Tbird, relatively rare, built a bit different from non Studio models, very nice sounding, might be a bit heavier than most Tbirds…

A 2014 anniversary Tbird, only year with the 12th fret anniversary flag…

Good price on a pre 2000 model…
Gibson USA Thunderbird IV 1996 Vintage Sunburst (S/N:94016567) (12/19) | Reverb

Not a Gibson by name but virtually the same at half the price, Epiphone CP models have Gibson pickups and sound exactly like their more expensive cousins. Visually almost identical to the Gibson as well. Of the five basses listed this would be my second choice
Epiphone Thunderbird Sunburst | Reverb

Also not a Gibson, Greco basses are getting harder to find at reasonable prices, many in the club hold these in higher regard than most modern Gibson Tbirds. Quite possibly the perfect gigging Tbird bass, absolutely a monster bass. Of the five basses I’ve listed here this would be hands down my first choice…
Greco TB-700 TB-70 1990 Black BK Thunderbird IV Electric Bass Fujigen MIJ w/ Gator Bag | Reverb
I can’t speak to the Studio, but otherwise I second this.

Right. There are places for punctuation inside quotes but it should not be a universal concept.
I repeat, grammar is a human construct as much as rules of fashion. There is no right or wrong! A friend of mine while in graduate school (his was PhD) had a degree from Cornell in English and he also loved to point out things that were illogical. My nephew's wife is doing a PhD in English Lit and I'm harassing her to write on the fact that grammar is made of of rules imposed on us by others who didn't ask our opinion. I told her if she does her dissertation on it I'll read every word. (I didn't tell her, but I'll likely read whatever she writes on.)

Assuming the Eppi Goth coming my way is good, I will have my 1.6 wide all-wenge Warmoth neck heel shaved to fit and re-sculpted (.80 at 1st fret). I also want to do the T/V/T/V inspired by our friend GBassNorth. Does anyone have any suggestions how I can do it using pots which are available on the market?

Merry Christmas ya'll

And he isn’t just like this at Christmas. This is the best club ever.
