Thunderbird Club

I have found that many of the great bands of the 60s, I would rather just own the greatest hits. As I go through the albums, there are 1-2 great songs, 2-4 good songs, and a bunch of filler. Perhaps that is what made for a great band back in the 60s as the industry dictated that you buy singles (with B side filler) or a whole album.

The disaggregation of 'bits' from 'atoms' changed the record industry. Are we better or worse for Spotify?

It depended on the band though too, singles bands often had a lot of filler on their albums but bands like The Animals for ex. put out great albums right from the get go. I think The Beatles were responsible for bands going to more uniform albums full of good songs. I know a lot of those 60's bands spent the majority of their time on the singles and just knocked out the rest, I think that was at least in part because of their producers also.

That doesn't look like too far. No more than a couple of centimeters...

As much as everyone derides disco (including me) for the soulless crap-pop derivative of funk that it was, there were a few gems that have found their way into my playlists.

How about a badass bass-playing disco diva? "Listen to my bass yahhh..."

That was probably the Ford Taurus SHO from the early 1990’s. In its day it was a pretty quick car for a family sedan. Performance wise it was in a tough market segment up against BMW and Mercedes. The engine truly was a dream, the car it was in was relatively stodgy and boring looking. I did drive one and was impressed with the straight line performance but not blown away with its handling in the corners. Had Ford dropped that engine in the new Tbird along with some suspension and brake upgrades they would have had a winner.
Exactly my thoughts. I would add that having a high output V8 in a front wheel drive platform is probably a bad choice... Sure, it can be made to work, in much the same way that hanging the engine out over the rear axle can be made to work in a 911, but still...

Always great to hear somebody is so pleased with their sound that they question if they ever need another bass. I’ve been that way on amps and cabs for the last 15 years.
So out of curiosity, what strings are you running on the new NR? I put SIT rounds on mine and am very pleased with the sound. I liked the stock strings but didn’t like Cobalt Flats on it. Seems to me the new NR is dark enough it needs rounds to really make it shine.
Like everything these days - very light gauge. Roto 66

Good cop of Chris Squire's sound, I used to be able to get a P bass with Rotos on it to sound similar to a Squire through an SVT with no effects. Not everyone who plays them plays them hard and right next to the bridge with a pick like Chris Squire did. They are capable of sounding very different in different hands, they're very versatile basses, McCartney played one quite a bit.

These are also Rickenbackers:

Strangely, Baby You're a Rich Man makes me think of this ahead of the Beatles...
