Thunderbird Club

Is it TV Silver cos it shows as silver under 1950s/60s TV lighting? like the TV Yellow showed as white?
OK, that’s backwards isn’t it ? OK I got nuthin. Looks nice though.

McLaren chose that papaya colour for their race cars so they could be spotted more easily on the old tech TV coverage
Man. I really need to plan a visit as soon as I retire.

When I bought both of mine one had already been stripped and was an ugly weird color and the other only had half the Tolex left on it. I stripped the tolex off the one that still had some and painted them both flat black and I did take the corners off, can't tell the difference and the wood they used, marine plywood (IIRC) wears like iron. I paint them every once in a while, it's been years now though. They're both early 70's flat back cabs. I've slid these things up and down stairs before on their sides. This was all new grille cloth 25 years ago. I know I've posted these here before 400 times but I did it this time to share some information. :D

Same old ugly sun drenched picture. The heads have Tolex and the cabs don't.

That's a lot of loudness right there.
Would even work for crowd control.

They sound great, they can be loud but that's not the point. It's like bass heaven, I rarely used both heads at the same time anyway. I used to get compliments on how they sounded. Clear as a bell and didn't break a sweat and when you needed a little extra to emphasize a low note they never farted out. I will always bring too much to a gig rather than too little if those are my only choices. That being said I haven't used two cabs for probably ten years which was at an outside gig.

If you like Thunderbirds, trains, planes, automobiles, and of course Nikki, you’re in the right place.
And watermelons.

It isn’t as comfortable for me as my Gibsons or the various six other Epi bolt ons I have. But I’m a small guy. 5’8”, 155. And not the largest wingspan. When I swam competitively, I hated the butterfly.
I am only 5-10, but a 6-1 wingspan helps in a lot of ways. But for whatever reason, VPs don't choose me like they choose other people.

I've not heard of the Washington Colonels and I would not be associated with anything with DC in the name. He needs to visit here and find a better class of people. We do have Kentucky Colonels he can join. Won't see me there either. A philanthropic group. He likely wouldn't want to join anything that would let me in anyway. The Kentucky Privates would be more my level. But that just sounds really, really weird.....

I see that was a typo.
Maybe he lives here in Kentucky. I'm not sure if if have to live here to be granted being Kentucky Colonel or not.
IIRC the Washington Generals are the team that traditionally lose to the Harlem Globetrotters.

News from the Epiphone camp. The Vintage Pro will now be called the Thunderbird 64 and some really good new color choices are coming :) Sorry I can't tell you the colors but I already pre ordered one. I was really hoping for a Thunderbird II but I don't think that is going to happen.
Guessing on colours...
Something 'sparkling', something 'aged', and something 'burst'

The 'long story' on this composer/symphony for me. I first heard it in the late '80s. My gf's upstairs apt neighbor in Chicago was Steve Albini (guitarist for Big Black/Rapeman/Shellac) and producer of Nirvana's breakthrough "Nevermind" and Joanne Newsome's debut LP, among others) and he gave her a cassette tape made from an LP he bought in Europe while on tour. It was sung by an Eastern European diva and it blew me away on first listen. I now have a number of different recordings (LP's and CD's) of different symphonies/different diva's but that '80s recording was gut-wrenching in its emotive power. In the early '90s, ('92) the David Zinman/Dawn Upshaw recording came out and it achieved worldwide fame/traction. It was already popular in the UK, where their "pop" music included symphonic works unlike the US. (as in "pop" meaning popular - all styles of music listened to by many people in the population)

I just stumbled across the Beth Gibbons vid - I never knew the words as it was sung in Polish. It's possible why it hits me so hard because I'm 1/2 Polish. As much as I would like to, I doubt I could attend a live concert of this symphony - I would just lose it.
