Thunderbird Club

Tubey Wednesday

the

guys at the Ampeg club are really good about responding and have a wealth of knowledge. there’s also a 60’s Ampeg club and I’d be willing to bet there’s a B-15/18 club as well….heads up..
Great suggestion. It appears mine is a very early 1965 but still using the 1964 parts. The two biggest tells per the Portaflex group is the double baffle cab (switched to single baffle in 65) and no PCB (added in 65). So, I have the classic “use up the parts we have” B-15NC.

Creamy sound. None of my other amps make that sound. And it definitely looks cool.

My '76 B15N was my 1st all tube amp. (for 11 yrs now) Before that, I owned a very nice pre-Fender SWR 400s tube-pre ss amp. But in the late '60s-'70s I owned only ss amps. (Heathkit and Acoustic) That's when they were introduced and they were cheaper than tube amps. I remember first hearing my B15 and thinking - so THIS is what they are talking about! And with the late '60s JBL... chocolatey is my assessment.

Really good interview with Geddy Lee, related to his memoir that just came out.

Totally agree. Rush is a “second tier” band for me. I loved Fly By Night. But after that, some of it just wasn’t my cup of tea. Tremendous player. Great band. And a great guy.

Thanks for the post Ken.

I’m glad he’s explained “Free Will.” That one always puzzled me.

It's all making sense now. And him being so doggone nice is just part of the cover. He's likely an international assassin.

A bass assassin.:smug: He's way too nice to be the other kind.
Everyone on here I’ve had the pleasure of spending time with are great. And there are many others (they know who thy are) who I can’t wait to meet in person someday.

:) Makes me very happy to hear this Dave! (your wife has good taste!) My intent for TSC has always been to choose and play music that people like/enjoy. I like edgy, difficult music personally - but I also love interpreting these beautiful classical pop songs and also developing Pauls unique originals.
We both enjoyed it, too.

Double ‘Bird Attack spotted.

One of my favourite Aussie bands of the 1970’s, although this is one of my least liked songs of theirs but so be it.

I’m really surprised I’ve only just seen this clip now. I’m pretty sure this was the first release with the new lead guitarist (Bob Spencer also of Finch/Contraband, The Angels/Angel City, Rose Tattoo) and when they were dialling back on the Glam and dialling up on the Rock. I can’t remember ever seeing Bob with a Firebird, he had a beautiful Les Paul Goldtop in those days, and I’ve never seen Greg Macainsh with a T’Bird ever, he was usually a P Bass
(L series?), Telecaster or Ripper player in those days (from memory).

Anyway, just sharing for the Birds.
