And Happy B'day.
HNY Mike!So far(2312 EST)no really big [stuff]. Last night someone near me emptied a coupla clips of something. Hopefully into the ground not up in the air.
It’s the same. I actually bought it soon after they came out at the GC in Roseville during Guitar-a-Thon. It was $449 (they’re $849 now). When Fender released it, it sort of started the shortie revival. It’s a pretty nice little bass. I replaced the junky tuners it had with a set of USA Hipshots. That reminds me of the one Ale, from The Warning, used to use (before she switched to Spector)

Right? They always seemed to be around, but with nothing really memorable except maybe their cover of Rockin All Over The World. But Fogerty’s version was better…yeah remember him…..talk about a brit name….another one of those bands I could unfortunately not get into …..![]()
Not the same conversation really, but same territory maybe? One thing I love about Lakland's was the DIP switches in the cavity. You could easily change the tone of the bass in very noticeable ways. Why that's not more common I don't know, but I think if I were commissioning you (or anyone really), to build a bass for me, I'm pretty sure I would want that incorporated into the design.I've seen such pot value rigs on YouTube. I have a cool 'no longer available' solder-less passive Jazz harness made by Santellan Sounds - Elek-Trix with 9 pot rating choices. Since it has 250k pots, I chose .022 uf - it also has a push-pull series-parallel pot (center) which remains bridge pu V when not pulled up. The 'tone board' is near the jack. I think they were bought by another company and they stopped making it which is a drag as it was a really good design.

Happy BDay! And many more! Thanks Marshall - it's always low-key fun.I've done it most every year over the last 10 yrs - missed a few, a couple due to Covid.
Most likely will bring this bass -

Looks as good as it did when I got it from you. Holding up perfectly. What a dream bass to play. It's not LaBella black nylons on it now. Really good match. And it looks great as well.I'm glad to see the truss rod cover is holding up. I made it out of aluminum and put a Gibson logo on it and sprayed some clear coat over it. I wasn't sure it would last.
Like if it goes off..... Safe travels, Ken.Well said, Donnie. We're spending it in a Costa Rican rainforest along side a volcano. Could be worse.
Well, yeah..... How else? Duh!That's where he gets them.
