because one end of the caps is grounded (shunt connected) the bigger the capacitance the lower the cutoff frequency meaning more attenuation of the higher frequency components resulting in a darker sounding response….
.02uFd is smaller than .04uFd meaning the .02uFd fitted bass will sound brighter than the .04uFd equipped one….

But... will two .02 uFd caps in combo = .04uFd? as in.., just another way of resulting in a "dark" tone?

yes, and if you added a third one (3 x .02) resulting in .06uFd, it would sound even darker….chances are they either ran out of .047s or had a surplus of .02s or, the pickups came in out of tolerance but to fill the revenue hole they adjusted with an extra cap, or it was done after the purchase by some tweaker dude…….literally, anything could have happened…hard to tell sometimes…..from the pic you posted, that solder joint on the pot case does not look factory….

Glad I asked. Seriously. Thanks for the lesson gang.

Well. Shoot. Inverness Green looks blue in a lot of pics. And the Faded Pelham Blue looks like green in many pics. Lighting is weird that way. Silver Frost looks good too. I’ll still get one. But I’m not going to rush. I’m really happy they are finally listening. And making some cool stuff. I’ll have Geo help me dye the FB.
At least in the pix, the "Silver Mist" looks a little too much like aircraft carrier gray.

Everybody modded their basses then. It initially had to do with the major brands limited variety and also the initiation of aftermarket parts like the Leo Quan Badass and Schaller 3D bridges. DiMarzio was the aftermarket pu of choice. After the 'move to nature'/hippy late '60s - many stripped the paint off their guitars/basses to expose "natural" wood. Once Fender saw that trend - they produced "natural" finishes ('70s), abet with thick poly clear-coats. Same with players adding pu's - Fender was 'off-the-back' finally producing a P/J combo - the Japanese companies were selling them years before Fender's appeared. These days - there are a huge number of bass options brand new and also a huge number of aftermarket parts. Add to that (knowing anything about tb) the DIY bug is viral.
Only "mods" I've ever made to any bass are strings and sometimes removing-and saving-bridge covers/handrests.

You wouldn’t :)
OK. In all seriosity, when I used to shoot 35mm film-or slides-I got a lotta complements on my composition, lighting. etc. My [flip]phone does what it does.
I've found that using an old home movie "Sun Gun" really helps with the shots in front of the door.

I was really hoping for a heritage cherry stain from Epiphone. I've got a quote from Maruszczyk for a 5 string but we are having discussions on the bridge, neck dims, and string spacing.

For any of you that want to delve into the rabbit hole, search about clutch explosions in front engine dragsters

they changed the tire compounds in the late 60s, causing the cars to hook and blow through the clutches, usually at the top end of the track. Some cut the cars in half at speed

the slipper clutch technology only caught up after a rash of drivers were sacrificed to the 1320’ god
Interesting. I love watching about any racing but never really fell in love with drag racing for some reason. I like watching once in a while, but I honestly don't keep up with who is where in standings. But the Daytona 500 is just around the corner..... :bassist: Of course they'll fill the LA Colosseum with dirt first and race there.
