Now I want to rebuild my J!
Year of the SF earthquake. Lots of new buildings/houses were built later that year.
Doesn't look great to me.
those Boomers you sent are mellowing really nicely on my 23 P….hadn’t used Boomers in decades and as nice and zingy as they are outta the pack, they mellowed really nicely on that P highlighting those well known lower mids…..SIT Power Wounds are about as close as I've run across to Boomers. Not the same, but close. Boomers seem to have slightly bigger or pronounced lows and maybe low mids. I haven't flipped those strings for some time, but I think the above should be close to accurate. Of course, much of string perception is enhanced/detracted by what they are being played on and then through. As Heraclitus once said, "Things do different things on different things."
Maybe that was "You cannot step into the same river twice." I forget.
I think we've milked that subject enuff.

In catching up I forgot to mention I think I have the new NR sounding good. Maybe a few more adjustments. Not even in the VP category, but it's sounding much better. SIT Power Wounds, cranked the bridge pickup almost all the way down, leave both volumes at 10. Not much adjusting beyond that during practice last night. Tried goign down with the neck and that didn't work ....
I have a fretless Thunderbird. But then I am also Willie at times.
Yes, I was for once getting happy about the tone getting better. We will see. I've had times of playing in rehearsal testing things out and was feeling good then next time wasn't impressed. And I don't fiddle with things, so it wasn't anything I was doing that changed. So we'll see, but I'm hopeful. I enjoy playing it. It looks fantastic. Always sounds good at home (which is not where I need it to sound good). So hopefully I'm turning a corner with it. I don't want to sell it. There are a ton out there and with the case, shipping would double the cost. (Slight exaggeration.)

Funny thing about that. Our chimney is made of "clinker brick." Those are bricks that were burned and twisted during the fire. There were piles of them after the fire, and of course, nobody wanted to deal with them. They are also very dark and rustic looking, because they are curved and twisted. By 1906 when our house was built, the whole fake tudor thing was going, and clinker brick looked the part. So those started getting used, including our chimney. I don't know how long they lasted, but if you see a house in Seattle with a chimney like ours, it's probably from after about 1905 and before about 1910. Most of what is now Seattle, outside of downtown, was still forest and some farmland in 1900.
Love it. That's great to hear. They can sound a little harsh when new, depending on other variables, but once they mellow out, they thicken up in a very nice way.those Boomers you sent are mellowing really nicely on my 23 P….hadn’t used Boomers in decades and as nice and zingy as they are outta the pack, they mellowed really nicely on that P highlighting those well known lower mids…..![]()
It's the Gibson '21 NR. Burgundy. Which, by the way, is the best looking then production color. But we all know that.I assume you are talking about the Greco. Let's face it, you'll never be happy with it. So just send it to me as a Fathers Day present.

I saw a sidewalk move once because of that. They weren't racing. Unless I was going much faster than they were. Not since my acid days.
Watch it. That dude in the tan shorts is bending over to grab bass and run out while everyone is distracted. Oh, that's Dave. He didn't end up with an "extra" bass at the end of the day did he?Just some Thursday fun.
